does anyone know where to purchase the vest that Robert Deniro uses in HEAT? he wears it in the last bank robbery scene where they have the shootout in the street in front of the bank. any info would help. thanks

Best I could tell, it was a cheap nylon mesh fishing vest with magazines held on using duct tape.

That would sure explain why a "teflon coated bullet" penetrated it during "Ronin" :D

I am curious about the vests used by Neil and his crew when they rob the armored car at the beginning.

What is the function of the bungee cords that are looped around the arms and over the shoulders in a figure eight?

The bungee cords were a field expediant sling.

I always figured the rope looped around the shoulders was an expedient "drag handle" for casualty-evacuation - if one of the crew takes a hit and goes down, grab the rope at the "X" between his shoulder-blades and start hauling. I'm pretty sure that I've seen this mentioned in passing somewhere in my military history reference library - maybe something that the Forty-Seven Ronin(Japanese-type) or other samurai did before a battle, just in case...
