Would anyone know if Pachmayr ever made the Compac Professionals for the round butt N frame? I thought I saw a picture of some somewhere, but they aren't a currently produced item.

Don't know 'bout N frame Smith's; but I just added a set to my 79-80 vintage
Smith model 60.

I believe the answer is no. They never produced the professional grip for the N frames. However there is a grip available from CDNN that looks like an uncle mikes/pachmyer product that is a "boot" style for the big frams that I like, got one from them for $3.99 and it works well on my 625 snub, obvoulsly it is for round butt only.

IIRC, S&W instituted a manufacturing change in the mid/late '90's where ALL K/L/N-frame guns were made round-butt, with the same grip frame dimensions, therefore Pachmayr Pro-Compacs for the round-butt K-frame will fit the round-butt N-frame as long as the N-frame gun in question was made after the change. Furthermore, a popular modification before that time was to shave the grip frame down to duplicate round-butt K-frame dimensions for the express purpose of using K-frame grips.
If possible, take the gun to the store and try before you buy.
