I would not do this on an extended basis but I shot some CCI shotshells in my SA gov model...WOW..WOW.. I was surprized at how potent they are.

Wow, nice patterns. When I patterned 9mm shotshells in my HP clone, I got donut-shaped patterns, at 3 yards, which pretty much ensured that I would MISS what I was aiming at. Those patterns look much nicer than what I got.

I think the reason is that those don't have a shotcup for the rifling to grab, where some brands do.

I use them in my .357 for those slithering critters. :D

"...shot some CCI shotshells..." How far away? Shotshells out of rifled barrels usually give a pattern with holes in it. The shot string flies in a spiral send shot who knows where.

That's what I need for doing the Utah Chapter's Balloon Races.
Or maybe that's Larry's secret for winning all the time?

Are those pistol shotshells full of lead shot? Any damage to a barrel if you shoot a lot of those?

The CCI shotshells are lead and have a plastic "wad" , I shot the box at six feet and you can see the big hole the wad made. I shot the soda container at ten feet and it flew twenty feet down the road. The shotshells functioned just like regular ammo..no jams or misfeeds. I don't "think" shooting a few shotshells would harm a barrel but I will only shoot them sparingly.
