Your first Firearm ?

My first firearm was a H & R youth model .410 single shot. My dad bought it for me when I was six. I still have it and recently got the firing pin fixed so my seven year old son could use it. Suprised me, we went shooting a few weeks ago and I could still hit skeet with it fairly well, even with the short stock :D My family has always been big on hunting and still is, I was hunting alone with my second firearm when I was eight, a winchester 30-30, took a four point's horns in for show and tell, teacher was not amused (they were still fresh). Still have that one as well.

Anybody else ?

I was 12 and ordered a 22 single action out of a Herter's catalog with a $32.00 money order. My mom had to sign the order form and a couple of weeks later, I got a pink slip in the mail, so I rode my bicycle down to the Railway Express office (before UPS) and the clerk handed me a cardboard box out of the safe and I rode back home and shot the hell out of it! Amazing that a 12 year old kid can just pick up a firearm all by himself back in those days! :D .....I later traded it for a Mossberg 22 rifle...wish I kept that old pistol. :(

First gun was at 21, I bought myself a NRM Colt Government.

I did my research, wanted the classic style. I didn't even know about extended thumb safeties, external extractors, FLGRs, ext mag well, bull barrels etc.... All I wanted was something that was reliable, and a reputable company. And that name yelled COLT. :D

The first weapon I ever fired was my dads S&W .357 when I was 4-5 !! :what: he held onto the barrel so the recoil didnt break my wrists... to this day he talks about how badly his hand got fried from the discharge out the side of the cylinder.... now that I think about it..... that was crazy heh... that same day he let me shoot his F/A m16, He held onto it and I pulled the trigger

First shotgun: Single shot .410..... I honestly cant remember the make or model... I was around 6-7 though...

First rifle: Marlin 30-30 when I was 12

Second shotgun: Remington 870 that mom bought me when I was 14, still got it, wanted a shotgun so I could do everything I wanted with one platform, partridge, deer, ducks, goose..... Love that gun.

First handgun: dad gave me one of his p89's when I was 17. (he had a few dozen for his security corporation so I figured he could spare one :D )

My first was a Winchester 69A. My dad bought two brand new, one for him and one for me when I was 14. I inherited his and found that they are consecutive serial numbers. I put target sights on mine and shot in Junior NRA target shoots back then. It is a great rifle and I love shooting it.

First firearm was a gift from my wife (with the aid of my father-in-law): a Mossberg 500 combo ... vent rib shot barrel and a cylinder bore barrel with rifle sights. Great gun that has taken a lot of game over the years.

My wife, though, now realizes she created a monster! :D

First firearm was a German Luger WWII bring back. A few years later traded it
for a Colt Commander. 45 ACP was a lot easier to find and cheaper than 9mm in those
days.

Getting rid of that Luger was probably my biggest firearm mistake. :(

That was fifty years ago, lots of different firearms have come and gone since then.

My first FIREARM?

Well, not including a BB rifle and an air-pellet pistol I've had since 22 (well, at least the pistol):

Weirauch (EAA) Windicator .38 Spl. snub-nose. Still have it, still carry it, still shoot it. Bought it off my Captain for $100. Only had 20 rounds fired through it when I bought it. Now has more than a few thousand rounds through it, with holster wear to show.

Since my parents/family/ex-g/f's were all anti-gun, I ended up waiting until the ripe old age of 27 to obtain it! (I just turned 28 last March HAHA!)

Just bought my first autoloader last February: Bersa FireStorm .45

Hopefully this year or beginning of next I'll have my shottie and a rifle! :)

First? Daisy Pump BB gun. Shut my finger in it one time, mom was sure I'd shot myself.

First that was actually mine, Crossman 1077 pellet gun. Killed many birds with that gun.

First real gun, same as you. H&R (maybe a NEF) .410 Youth. That went to my brothers though, as I outgrew it.

First real gun that was mine to keep? Remington 870 12 Gauge. I did a 50/50 with my parents, cost me $90.

First gun I bought on my own when I turned 18? Springfield WWII Stainless 1911, in a FTF transfer obviously, but unfired.

First rifle when I turned 18? Unissued Yugo SKS.

First gun was a CVA Bobcat. A fun little smokepole.
First centerfire rifle was a Turk Mauser.
First centerfire handgun was a HiPoint 380. It worked but I didn't like it. I traded it a few days ago for a Mosin Nagant M44 and 2 boxes of ammo.
First rimfire handgun was a Heritage Rough Rider, steel frame. It works and I still have it. A nice knock-around gun.

First firearm was a Remington Mohawk 48, 20ga, 26" Imp cyclinder shotgun. I still have the gun and my last outing with the gun I downed 20 birds with 20 shells. Nothing like the gun you grew up with!

First Handgun, Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag. with Aimpoint scope. My Deer hunting handgun, it's taken a 4 Whitetail bucks and a Bobcat. One of favorite handguns to this day.

Not counting numerious air rifles and pistols... my first firearm was a Hi-Point 9mm composite.

So was my second.

My third was a Yugo SKS and my 4th was a CZ52.

I have just recently aquired a Bulgarian Makarov and I now wish I had gotten that instead of the hi-points. After shooting the Bulgie the Hi-Point feels so loose and inaccurate I am probably not going to use it much anymore. If only 9mm Makarov was as cheap and as easy to get as 9mm Luger.

I am glad the hi-point was there as a starter weapon that allowed me to learn the basics while not spending lots of cash.

First guns I shot, S&W 686, Ruger GP100, Beretta 92fs, S&W 9mm of some sort, maybe a 639 I think. Don't normal families start you out with a 22?

First gun I bought with my own money but dad bought for me was a Sundance Boa 25acp, what a mistake, gun long sold off.

First gun I bought myself was a FIE 25acp Titan, actually works well and I still own it.

Think my first rifle I shot was a Chinese paratroop SKS and the first long guns I bought were a Remington 870HD 12ga and a Bulgarian SA-93 7.62x39 I had my dad buy for me while I was in the military. Can't remember the first long gun I purchased in my own name.

First firearm: Saiga 12 semi-automatic sporting shotgun. Modified it into a "home offense" assault shotgun AK-clone. Did all my own work (cutting holes in receiver for a new relocated fire control group, cutting receiver tangs, filing work, rigging up some internals, etc) and put much blood, sweat (and dollars) into iit. I consider it personal and mine forever; I don't think I could ever part with it even if someone gave me well above fair-market value.

Anyone else feel a bond with their "first" firearm, or perhaps those that you've turned into a labor of love?

I saved my shekels and bought a H&R Topper model 20 ga. when I was about 9. Dad never let me have a BB gun, he said kids do dumb stuff they'd never do with a real gun. He was probably right. BTW, still remember that I paid 43 dollars for that shotgun, 2 boxes of shells, and an Ohio hunting license. A few years later my grandfather gave me a remington 580 (.22lr) that belonged to my late uncle.

Marlin single shot .22. Has the ring cocker and a gold trigger. I still have it, and plan on getting it totally reconditioned some day. I bought it 41 years ago. I believe the model # is 101. It doesn't have a serial number. Anyone know somebody(that's good) that can work on an old beat up gun, that is loved, and treasured? Let me know. Added: By the way, I didn't beat it up. I let my brother use it, he let his son, who obviously didn't give a ???? about taking care of it, use it. When I asked for it's return they didn't know where it was. I finally run across it several years later. They had stuck it behind the seat of an abandoned pickup on his farm. I'm still pissed!! :cuss:

Japanese 7.7 Arisaka that someone had "sporterized." they cut the stock back to the second barrell band and removed the anti-aircraft sites. Bought it for $50 off my brother in law. It was an early production, but it had the chrysanthemum ground off. Which almost guaranteed that it was turned in at the end of the war. Flat shooter, tight groups. A great rifle, too bad it was about a buck a shot back in the early 80's. Traded it for a motorcycle.

Dad wouldn't let us kids have firearms so when I turned 18 I went out and got my own. Went haves with a friend named Tom on a Winchester mod. 190 .22 S/A tube gun. We put about 25K rounds through that gun over the next year. First centerfire was Tom's Uncles 30-30 Model 94 (an old one). I bought that from Tom along with his half interest in the .22 because he wanted a 6MM Remington for some reason.

Later purchased first handgun which was a Sterling .22. Accurate to about 24" at a range of 10' and only fired when it was in the mood.

First shotgun was an 870 wingmaster.

Still have them all except the Sterling which some fool stole during a house robery in 1980.
