Background: Back in May I thought it might be fun to offer a free NRA FIRST Steps/Pistol class to local media. All told about 30 different outlets were contacted either by e-mail, telephone, letter or personal invitation. I had predicted that none would accept. I was almost correct, but one did accept and that was our local newspaper. Their reporter and photographer came last Monday (June 6th) and the story was in the paper yesterday (June 12th). Rather than focus on the specific class, the reported used the experience as a way to comment upon the newly re-enacted MCPPA (shall issue legislation.)

Everything that is in there was in fact said by me (they ran a tape recorder) or via e-mail (there were a few followup questions.) However, although the overall article is very fair, some of the comments are not contextual and read oddly, if not incorrectly.

The author was Tim Kjos, one of the paper's Outdoors reporters, and his e-mail is: timk@dlnewspapers.com It would not hurt to have people send an e-mail commenting on the nice article etc.

Here is the link to the article from their web site:

It's a decent article. You were right, taken of context, some of the comments seem random and off-the-wall with no transition from what the reporter was reporting on.

Phorvick, what are your prices on the Minnesota classes? Feel free to PM if you wish.
