Was in a shop the other day and somehow managed to resist temptation.
What was temting was an 870 deer gun with monte carlo stock and cantelever barrel with a 2.5 X Burris scope for $329. Condition was very good, but I would prefer the 24 inch barrel (it was 18.5) and getting an 870 would might make my ithaca seek divorce.
What do you guys think? Good deal that I should have taken or no?

If you want a slug gun, go get it. I'd have passed on it because I don't hunt deer with a shotgun.

TTBOMK, Remington has never made a 18.5" cantilever barrel. I'm inclined to think this was a project that didn't come out the way the previous owner wanted.

Price isn't that great. Don't kick yourself for passing on this.

Actually, Ithacas and 870s get along fine. They're cousins after all(G)....
