Four days into THR, and the slow climb to 10,000 posts has C.R. Sam way out in front with 101, more than doubling Oleg's toatal of 46. Go Sam, go!

And how many words does that total up to? 101 posts = 250 words? Heh.

If my posts/day average at TFL holds here, I'll hit 10,000 posts sometime in 2006.

I figure i'll hit 10000 sometime around 2009. Oh well...

I like the forum, it's speedy :)

I like the forum, it's speedy

Just wait until it hits 18,000 members and 100,000 threads...

Quality, not quantity.

Sam's brevity embraces both.

Now that he's a Moderator, he should get to 10,000 faster, eh??:D

Heck, I was on TFL for almost 3 years and didn't even make 500 posts. I mostly listen and only talk when needed.

Sometimes I like to talk and sometimes I like to listen and read. Sam is a good read any day! Remember, "Brevity is the soul of wit." Sam is witty in ther extreme!

Since Sam always signs his posts, the extra Sam doesn't qualify for the total word count.:)

They work great in my digicam, and have lasted a lot longer than the old alkaline batteries.

I was thinking, I wonder how long Sam could chug away at his postings if he were running on a set of them? :D

He says so few words, but they are always on track and to the point. There's no wasted "fluff" .. ;)

He takes the phrase, "Cut to the chase!", to the fullest extreme..:D

I throw in random comments every now and again when required, you know, Glock, 1911, Kel Tec, stuff like that! :)

Humm, you won't see quite as much of me. When TFL ended I did a soul searching and found:
1) I was far far far far far far too long winded. I made all my posts much longer than they needed to be. I explained the same thing in multiple ways. Things I could have said once in one way I kept saying over and over. I wasn't nearly as concise as I could have been. I just droned on and on.
2) I posted on threads that didn't really say anything or on threads where I didn't really have anything to say.

Those got me both long posts and 1200 posts in one year. Well, this time I'm not going to do it.

:D

Boy, some of you are burning up the rubber - er, keyboard! - catching up on your post count!!! As of about 6.40 a.m. Christmas day, the "Top Ten Posters" list looks like this:

Preacherman December 20th, 2002 124
Derek Zeanah December 20th, 2002 99
Steve Smith December 21st, 2002 85
Blackhawk December 24th, 2002 77
Schuey2002 December 24th, 2002 69

Isn't this where someone steps in and asks "And just HOW is this firearm related?" :D

I was on TFL for years and averaged .4 posts a day. I was just doing some searching over there and realized that I'd actually registered 3 times! I suspect that I'll write far more than one post every two days on TFR (http://www.theFiringRange.com/) but doubt it here on THR.

Top posters on TFL:

C.R.Sam 10-29-1999 13111

Well, on *ahem* other forums, I've been known to rack up some big numbers, but I've decided to slow down and pace myself.

That, and I've decided to actually have a life outside the internet - whatever that might be! :D

Should we institute a speed limit here?
As Sammy Hagar would say, "I can't drive 55..!! " :D

I prattle on needlessly but every once in a while a thread comes along that's good enough to really dive in to, like the OKC thread on TFL, and the posts really rack up. I figure if I hang around page five of the Top Posters I am doing OK. Not too verbose but still noticeable. :)

Now if I ever learn Sam's technique...

In two years on TFL I don't think I posted at all- just read it everyday.

Now I want to get to "senior member" after which I may retire- unless they come up with, say, "very senior member".;)

Update... Top posters as at 8.58 p.m. on December 30, 2002:

Blackhawk - 359
Preacherman - 282
Schuey2002 - 253
re1973 - 198
Tamara - 194
C.R.Sam - 190
Derek Zeanah - 178
PATH - 167
Steve Smith - 136
Gewehr98 - 129

Considering that those in 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th places are moderators and administrators who had racked up a large post count before we officially opened for business, the rest of the list must have friction burns on their keyboard fingers by now! :D Personally, I think Blackhawk has made a bet with someone that they owe him a case of the hard stuff if he makes 1,000 posts within his first month of membership...
