Anyone know of any good gun stores in Houston? I will be there for a few days and would like to check things out.

Carter's Country on the north side has a good selection. Jim Pruett's Guns and Ammo supposedly has alot of stuff too. Collector's Firearms is supposed to have alot of uncommon pieces.

I've only been to the Carter's Country, so I don't know for sure how the other 2 are. There is a gun show at the Pasadena Convention center this coming weekend.

Alexander's Guns....... if they are still in business; They specialize in combat gunsmithing for handguns.

Republic Arms........... on 34th St. , if Art May is still in business. He used to be the NUMBER ONE Class III dealer in Harris county. He is a very nice guy to do business with.

Collectors Firearms is great. Hundreds of Guns of all types and calibers, Prices vary. I spent 2 hours in there and did not see all they had.

Collector's is a nice shop and is located just west of downtown in the Westheimer area, about 5-10 SW of the Galleria. prices aren't the best according to alot of people but they do have a nice selection.

Bass Pro Shops is in Katy, TX, about 45 mins west on I-10.

When are you going to be in town? If you're going to stay for the weekend there's usually a gunshow. There's one at the Pasadena Convention Center this weekend and one in the Humble Civic Center the weekend of the 7/2 & 7/3.

I agree with dtalley that Collector's Firearms is pretty much a free gunshow by itself.

the Pasadena show is not that large but it is worth going to. that same weekend there is a gun show in San Antonio that is a larger show.
