Someone over on TFL had pointed out that a made for TV movie of the '86 FBI shootout is airing on CourtTV this weekend. Thought I'd pass it along.

In the Line of Duty: FBI Murders Saturday, June 25 @ 4pm ET/PT

Would this be the version with David Soul ("Starsky & Hutch") and Michael Gross ("Family Ties" & "Tremors") as Mattix (sp?) and Platt? If so, it was a pretty engrossing made-for-TV movie; I thought it was quite well done when I saw it many years ago ...

Sounds like that's the one. IMO, one of the best TV movies ever.

Can't believe the family ties dad pulled that role off, but great acting.

I used to own it on VHS. Was pretty good for what it was and it's neat to see the family ties guy as Mattix. I was really into researching the Miami shootout at one time and thats how I came across the movie. I even owned the forensic book put out by a professor of USC about this, he recently has been charged with child molestation though!

Anyways the movie has some flaws from the actual shootout, like I don't believe that the mini 14 was full automatic in the actual incident but overall the movie is worth a look.

The movie may be good as a work of art, but the general consensus of those who are well informed about the Miami shootout is that it is NOT an accurate account of that event. The full auto Mini 14 is not the only error.

So, who plays Mireles?

Ronald G. Joseph (http://imdb.com/name/nm0430692/)

Thanks for the tip on the showing of the movie. It's been more than 15 years since I last saw it, and it seemed to be well done for a made for TV movie. Guess we'll find out how well it holds up after time...
