Police say a man who allegedly robbed an Albuquerque bookstore at gunpoint is in critical condition after a store employee beat him with a baseball bat.
Albuquerque police Detective Jeff Arbogast says the robbery happened at 3 p.m. today when a man walked into the bookstore and demanded cash.
Arbogast says when the man fled with an undisclosed amount of money, bookstore employees gave chase. One employee was shot in the chest as he exited the back door of the bookstore and meanwhile, another employee picked up a baseball bat and caught up with a man he believed to be the robber.
A man and a female were arrested in connection with the robbery.
The wounded store employee and the alleged robber have both been hospitalized. Arbogast says the employee is in good condition while the other man was critically injured.
The names of the bookstore employees and the people who were arrested were not immediately available.
