I can't find rhyme or reason to my collection

I can't find a common link other than they all shoot bullets. Here they are in order of acquisition. Hopefully someone can find a common thread:
S&W Sigma .380
Ruger 4" Stainless GP-100
S&W 422
Baby Eagle Compact .40
Bersa Thunder .380
S&W 4" 686-5
S&W 637
Glock 19
What's really odd about it is that I don't really consider myself a S&W fan but they make up half my stock.

You are crazy. I mean you own a SIGMA in .380. Therefore you don't have to have any rhyme or reason to the collection since you are certifiable.:D Just kidding.
Who cares. Do you like shooting them? Do you like handling them? Do you take pride in them? There you have it, YOUR collection.
I don't have much rhyme or reason to my accumulation either but every one of them has a reason for being there.
Enjoy them. You have some nice Smith Revos there.

A gun collector.
Accumulating is easier as you can buy any dang thing yore little heart desires without giving a hoot in hades how it fits in a " collection ".

Makes perfect sense to me. You tend to like smaller and more compact. You value quality but see little point in spending big bucks on the "flavor of the day". You have been a bit frustrated with the limited accuracy of smaller handguns, and thus have picked up a couple with a bit more reach. But in the long run, you come back to the practical reality that a gun is only useful if you have it when needed. So the bigger ones likely see more range time - but the smaller ones tend to be kept close at hand. You've considered getting rid of a couple - but you can't really get much for them, and they don't really take up much space - so why not hang onto them.
Am I close on this?

My collection has rhyme and reason, the reason being that I buy what I like and can afford.
To me, the super organized guys who collect endless variations of one gun are like a guy who owns a thousand recordings of one piece of music by different musicians. He may be an expert in his area, but IMHO, he is missing a lot of fun.

I think Nick96 has most of it.
You do not feel a need for big bore guns. In fact, most are various flavors of 9mm (.380 ACP, 9*19, and .357 Mag). You took one foray into something larger - the Baby Eagle. I don't know what a S&W 637 is, so I may be wrong about this.
You obviously want some for of compactness, for whatever reason.

I've got to say...Nick hit pretty close to the mark right there.
That Sigma .380 was a gift. I found myself wanting more reliable, accurate, and powerful. Hence I got the GP-100. It was everything the Sigma wasn't. However, I didn't feel that the amount of money I could get for that Sigma warranted getting rid of it. The 422 came into being because it was a good deal and was good for inexpensive practice. The compact Baby Eagle came into the safe as a small carry piece. Finding it heavy even for a compact, I got the Bersa as an additional carry piece when I couldn't carry the Baby Eagle. The 686 was a lucky acquisition. The 637 came under my ownership as a compromise between light/carry and power. And the Glock just came in as I finally admitted it is nearly everything I am looking for in a gun: reliable, accurate, light, with enough punch. So I guess the common thread is that they are all (with the exception of the Sigma) a good amount of bang for the buck, so to speak.

What's it matter as long as you're happy w/ what you have! ;)

Hey, I have one of those Sigma .380s! And I bought it. :) While not the best .380 around, it's not the worst. I give that distinction to the Grendel P-10.

best reason for having an aglomeration of them is so when you want variety, you don't necessarily have to go out and buy a new gun.
Worst .380 : Never tried a Grendel so can 't say for sure but I'm betting the Arcadia Machine and Took AMT ***k Up is right down there with the worst of them. the dealer let me put most of a box through one and, since it funcitioned, I bought it. It was the last time I got a full mag through it without malfs. The magazine lips would spread open and one time, the spot weld on the mag seam came loose. It would even launch loaded rounds out the top of the pistol.

Rhyme or reason..? we don't need no rhyme or reason...
Mr. Keenan's point is valid..."you'd be missing a lot of fun." No matter how your collection is put together, if its fun for you, then thats good enough. Take 'em all out and shoot this weekend...you'll remember exactly why you brought each one home. Of coarse...you'll be cleaning for a while...:D

Even worse than admitting to owning a Sigma in 380, it was the one you listed first probably meaning you like it quite a bit.
And with all those compact guns, you still don't own an Officer model or equilavent.

Buy guns, go shooting. Simple.:D

I feel it necessary to point out that real collectors always have a collecting theme, and will not go outside that theme.
So, I propose a simple solution. Each one of you should decide what your collecting theme is and designate those guns that fit the overall intent of your collections.
Then send the rest to me (pre-paid shipping, please). Since I am not a "real collector" (having been so informed a number of times), I can accept them with no qualms.

You collect using the tenets of the Chaos Theory.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
I'm a devotee myself.

Sounds more like the Eclectic System. I subscribe to this theory.
But Mike is the resident copy editor and has a better grasp in that dept. I bow to him ;)
