I'm in big trouble guys.
I took the new wife out wednesday 2 weeks ago to teach her how to shoot. (old winchester model 12 20ga that was her mom's), she shot pretty decent. did some work at the trap range, then did a little skeet, maybe 125 rounds total.
the usual newbie bruises, but she's hooked.
she keeps saying ,when are we going?
Went and bought a Lanber 12ga O/U from a friend, figuring it might need to be cut down and it was pretty affordable. So, she's got her own gun now.
We went out Tuesday to Berthoud Gun Club for their trap range, she got up a 14 in regular trap, then was figuring things out, and shot a 12 at wobble trap (see wobble thread) as our last round as the range was closing.. Then she keeps saying "when are we going out? can't you leave work early?" (did I marry the right woman or what?)
So, had to work this morning, then went out to Colorado Clays this afternoon.. Started with shooting some skeet (where my game totally fell apart, ugh, different thread) and she started getting the hang of it. Then shot some sporting clays. I warned her it woudl be hard but she really started nailing some. We started from high gun instead of low gun, but she shot all the pairs as described and even got some doubles on true pairs. She got a 30. I'd call that darn good for first time. (way better than my first time)
Then she says, "Let's shoot one more round of trap"
uhhh, we're 175 rounds now, you sure?
"yes, i need to measure, see if this helped" she says
So, sky's darkening, rain is coming, we zip up to the trap range.
Just me and her and it's going to start raining.
Me, miss
her: demolish
me: miss
her: dust
me: hit, finally
anyway, her first miss was at #13 :what:
and it started raining and you have never seen such a fast round of Trap.
She shot a 21!!!!!!! :what:
and missed 3 of the last 5 probably cuz it was really starting to rain.
A 21!!!!!!!!!
I've only broken 20 like 5 times (i shoot a pretty consistent 18/19, guess who needs lessons?)

To say the least, she's psyched.
Best part is I keep going "hey, that's my wife" as she dusts another one.
:D

My wife, I think i'll keep her. ;)

Brian,

Yes, you are in trouble. My wife and I have been married 35 years. I got her to shoot a 12 ga about 30 years ago. She hated it, it hurt her.

Today we drove to Denver to move some last stuff for my son. Stopped at Sportsman's Warehouse and bought a flat of 28 ga Remington STS's. I need hulls for my new MEC (and my new 28 ga 870).

We broke some clays in the field this afternoon. "Hey, this is fun".

"Making hulls"

Tomorrow we break some more, she insists.

But every woman I've ever taught to shoot, both rifle and shotgun, took to it really quick...Sometimes to the point of embarassment for me...Good eye-hand coordination? Dunno...

But,it does sound like you married right!
