I'm looking to free-fload the handguard, but also want a lower rail for mounting a bi-pod or vertical grip, or new sling swivels, all those goodies the lower rail is for.

However I don't like the style of those 4-rail floated guards, or the prices, especially for the rifle-length ones!

Anyone know if one could do this:

Maybe what I need do is find out the specs for flat rails, and just screw it and start drilling...

That's the Yankee Hill Manufacturing Customizeable rail you linked first... They can be purchased from "Bright Flashlights (http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=2&f=142)" off of the Industry Forum on AR15.com for $94 delivered.

I personally would do THAT since your tube is probably a one-piece and not indexable. It can be done, but you have to make sure you get the rails in the right place the first time because you can't adjust if you're "off".

I keep saying I'm going to use the YHM for my next build, but I keep putting it off...
