Glock 20 owners tell me about your glock and the 10mm

I have seen Ted Nugent talk about how much he loves this round and the Glock 20 chambered in it. I have seen him several times take down animals on his show and I was wondering how this gun would perform as a backwoods gun for when I go hunting? I am not really looking to hunt with it, but I do like the power and high capacity of it at 15 rounds.
What do you think about this gun ?

To me, the G20 is the DEFINITIVE backwoods gun. Rugged, reliable, powerful, hi-cap, low-maintenance, reasonably portable, and outstanding accuracy. You'll love it for that purpose.

I really like my G20. However, ammo is a bitch to find and expensive. The cheapest I've found 10mm blaser is $12 something a box at natchez. I do like Hornady 180 for carry though and Ga Arms 180 gr also.
I did buy a 40 S&W conversion barrel for it. Most practice type 10mm ammo and alot of self defense ammo is only loaded to 40 S&W specs, so I save money and shot 40 S&W out of it. Its like shooting 38 special out of a 357 mag only the 40 is alot more powerful than a 38 special.

Is 459 dollars for a slightly used (I took it apart and it still had the copper-colored factory grease on the rails and slide) G20 with one 15-round mag and two ten-round mags a good deal?

I've got a 20 and a 29. Just got the 20. I've killed deer with the 29. Love it.
Use Ga. Arms ammo.

I carry my G29 CCW and I hunt and hike with my G20. I have taken black bear, deer, and elk with my G20 with DoubleTap 200XTP's.

I had one and enjoyed it. The 10mm is an excellent round. I ran only the 175grainer Win Silver Tips through it. I "harvested" a raven with it and the Winchesters from 70 yards off, (got bored turkey hunting on a slow day..). I think it weighed about as much fully loaded as my S&W 1076 weighs empty.
I think $459 would be a fair price for the G20 in near new condition.
I traded mine off for something I really needed to have at the time.... wish I could remember what it was.

I have the 20 and the 29. I like them both as shooters and would recomend either. I personally think the 1911's are prittier but I am more of a colt kind of guy. For pure utility it is hard to beat either glock.
I shot mostly silver tips thru mine until Mike started making ammo. Now I use double tap and texas ammo.

I'm not a hunter, but I have a G20--it's an excellent gun (if you like Glocks generally, of course). It's not my favorite 10mm, but then again I have a DE and Kimber, so what do you expect? It would be the best of all the 10mm semi-autos for hunting, however: 15 + 1, and the usual Glock ruggedness. You can't lose.
A friend of mine bought one from Backmann (sp?) Pawn in Dallas (I think--might be Ft. Worth) for $489 NIB (with 2 15 round mags) a few months ago. They advertise in SGN or Gun List every other issue or so. If you have a cheap local FFL (we have $10 one here) that may be the way to go.

I also took it on a moose hunt to AK and never felt underarmed. In the village where we left for the bush, a couple of Buch Pilots carried the 20 as well. They even had 10mm in the village store. I agree with the others that it is a great woods carry gun. If you put the right ammo in it it had a good level of power. I have kill a couple of hogs with mine as well. Check out the 10ring on glocktalk to find out more info on ammo.
Hope this helps,
Matt

It's bigger than a G17. It is the same size as a G21 (.45). Trying to describe "how much" bigger than a G17 is kind of pointless--the best thing is to feel one up at a gun show or gun shop (again, a G21 will do for that limited purpose, too). Shooting one would be even better. Not a lot of G20s out there as rental guns, but G21s are more common. Good luck!
