The Winchester 97 was (I'm guessing) used to some extent during the Moro Uprising in the Philippines in the early 1900's.

Are there any surviving accounts of it's effectivess (or lack thereof) against the Moros?

from the books that I have read this is what I have inferred: 1897 winchester + 12 guage 00 Buck = yes, Military DA revolver + 38 = no!

Velocities should have been fairly standard with Dram Equivalance of about 3 to 3 1/4 Drams. About 1150-1250fps on standard loads. Just like it is today. Possibly more with buck and slugs.
