It just occured to me; does the LPers, or any other 3rd party, want to serve their country or their party?

If you want to serve your country, you are not doing it, with the exception of Ron Paul.

Right now, if just 6 third party members got elected to the senate, as Republicans, they would have control of the majority vote unless Democrats voted with the Republicans.

You could, as a member of congress or senate introduce your own legislation on gun control or banning gun control, to open or close the border, drug laws, and what ever else you would like to control/decontrol.

What a change that could make in Washington DC.

As it is now, you are able to do nothing.

By the way, I would love to see you turn the Republican Party around. You would have my vote.

Moral of the story; run as Republicans until the Republican party is controlled by you.

The Republican party is nearly as malicious and inimical to the nation's civil rights as the Democratic (sic) party. The (slightly) lesser of two evils is still evil.

Desertdog, I respectfully submit that it is not up to you to dictate whether anyone else is or is not "serving their country" by voting however their conscience dictates.

You are presuming for the rest of us that Republican control of the Congress will be good for the country. You may be correct ... or you may not. Irrespective, you have no right to tell other people that by voting as THEY deem best that they are not serving the country. By making that statement, YOU are not serving the country.

I would remind you that the Republican Party attempted to defeat Ron Paul about 3 times before finally accepting him. He makes them very uncomfortable.
