Hello:

I tried the THR search function, Google, and the CSSA site but was unsuccessful finding info on any public ranges in the Denver, Colorado area that offer reactive/steel targets for pistol calibers. Anyone know of one???

Thanks,

Anyone? :uhoh: Either a public range or an open-to-the-public range -- without expensive initiation fees/dues or long waiting lists.

Thanks!

don't know of any clubs that will leave there steel out for the general public to shoot..

most of the steel belongs to the USPSA, IDPA, 3-gun section of the club and is generally locked up, except for matches and for those members..

the steel get expensive and I have seen when left out, you get people shooting it with all sorts of things that it shouldn't be shot with, leaving holes and pockmarks..

Thanks for the replies. Your point about expense vs. abuse makes sense, but I was hoping to try out reactive targets without the expense or time committment of organized competition.

I've mostly been shooting trap lately, because I find it much more fun/exciting than paper targets -- so my shotgun is getting used while my revolvers sit around getting dusty...

Any suggestions on training/activities for revolvers that I could do occasionally as time/money allow?

also the tough part is a lot of clubs won't allow steel reactive targets during public shoots..

if you do get some free time..the pueblowest club..about 2 hours from denver has a all steel pistol match on Wednesday evenings..

early start is 4:30 and if a person can get there by 5:30-6pm..you still get in all the stages...it is ususally 4 to 5 stages..about 130 to 150 rounds if you don't miss...

its $10, and a lot of fun..lots of people just starting out, and many of them don't shoot USPSA or IDPS,come to play..If I remember..they have divisions for open class, limited class, revolver and rimfire..

rimfire can start from a low ready, rather than from holster..

Closer to Denver, check out http://home.earthlink.net/~ccpsmd/clearcreekpracticalshooters/

They host http://idpa.50megs.com/ Tom Judd is good people, and though it's too far for me to drive these days, they used to put out at least one stage every match where they were generous with steel!

:D

For less commitment but still with good training facilities and instructors on site, check out http://www.k2ftc.com/
