I just bought this shotgun new last week.
When I first got it I took it directly to my favorite shooting spot without any cleaning or lube.

The ammo I used the first time was two boxes of Remington "Game Loads" 1oz shot 1290fps and one box of Winchester "Texas heavy dove loads". I also tried some Rottweil Brenneke M.P. slugs 1oz.
The Texas dove loads worked fine, the Remington loads had three or four failures to eject. The slug loads didn't want to come out of the chamber, one time I had to give the bolt handle a good tug to get the empty out.
When I got home I cleaned and lubed with FP-10.

Yesterday, I tried some Winchester "upland game loads" 31/4dr. eq, 1oz shot. My X2 was basically turned into a single shot. I only used 15 shells and gave up.

Today, I tried some Winchester Ranger Reduced Recoil 00buckshot. This didn't work either, no ejection. I tried a few Federal Premium Maximum 000 buckshot shells, they worked fine. I also shot a half box of Federal "Multi-Purpose" 1 1/8oz shot 3dr. eq., these also worked fine. I tried the Winchester upland game loads again, not much better than last time.

Does my gun just need some breakin' in? I hope thats all it is because I like to use the promo shells as much as possible. Thanks, Patrick **ignore any link that may show in this post**

Patrick, the heavy one ounce loads should work, they run fine in my 3.5" X2. I have heard of one other X2 acting this way, there was a problem in the gas piston on that one but there are a few things you can check.

Is the gas piston and magazine tube clean and DRY of any oil? It needs to be.

Is the trigger group lightly lubed? It should be.

Are the bolt rails in the reciever wet with oil? I've used FP10 on my X2 but mostly only in cold weather. I like to use Mobil 1 15w-50, it is heavier and stays where you put it a lot better. I've not seen an X2 that will run dry, they NEED wet rails.

Is there a light film of oil where the bolt and carrier slide against each other? If not you need it.

About the only other thing I can think of is a rough chamber, how does it look?

Do what H says. He knows autos. I have a hunch this will work out with proper maintainance and use. If it's still doing it after 500 rounds, call Winchester....

I'm going to clean and lube following your instructions.
I think I'll use the heavier loads for break-in as well. I will let you know how everything turns out.

I've been shooting for a long time, but it sure is nice to get some help when things aren't going well. Thanks guys, Patrick. :)
