Interesting, war protestors just took over a block of main st. in my town

Heh, we've had anti-war protestors on street corners for a while now but just driving home a few minutes ago through downtown and there was a large group out, seems they have taken over a block or two of Main st. and are sitting down to block traffic. Interesting I guess.

No, it's criminal. Book em.

I guess I fail to see the problem, but, then again, I drive an Avalanche...
I'm driving home, see objects in the street, think about the ground clearance, remembering the various undercarriage shields, and then simply proceed, although probably at a reduced speed, since control over the vehicle is always a primary objective.
I'd probably go into auto four wheel, just as a precaution, but I could shift to four high, on the fly, if I needed to...
Ah well, a dream, I know, but around here, mud season follows the snow, and the dirt road to my hut couldn't be much worse than "carefully" driving over willing street carpets!

Break out the street sweepers, Tim.

March 20, 2003, 05:53 PM
OK on the sweepers, assuming the remainder are willing to move after the first few rounds...
Given that realistic moving targets are very expensive, not to mention hard to find, that might be a good idea.
Still, you have to drive home, lumps is lumps, and you're mileage would suffer in either case.
Too, you'd have to get out just to shoot.
Me, I'd just drive home.

3:09 p.m. Portland.
Police are massing downtown across from my office building, with swat teams, motorcycles, ATVs, and Paddy Wagons around every corner.
The demonstration starts at 4:00 p.m., with the intent of screwing up the rush hour.
I just hope some flower waving pansie stays out of my way, while I attempt to get home and out of this sewer. I have an appointment at the range tonight.

Never, never run over a protestor.
Do you have any idea how hard it would be to get the smell of armpit and marijuana off of your vehicle? :neener:
The above is a fact based statement, last saturday I got to smell them and watch them smoke pot while providing security at their peace protest.

could you suggest to these 'protestors' a different plan of action? i think their efforts could be made more efficient. i mean, come on, walking around with signs that say 'bikes not bombs' and halting traffic? thats low end stuff.
they need to hit us where it really hurts! for example, if they were to oh say, try to use up the water supply by washing our cars or watering our lawns, it just might make us realize that war is wrong! now before you say 'hey! thats crazy! dont give them any ideas!', think about it.
we arent being forced to deal with books of knowledge here, right? its more like a pamphlet, or a crayon picture drawn by a 2 yr old. why else do they focus on stupid slogans and horrible rhyming?
look at the beastie boys attempts at protesting:
"now dont get us wrong we love America,
but thats no reason to get hysterica!"
its bad grammar! poor sentence structure! and dont get me started on lack of vocal abilities....

OMG, the whole building is surrounded by cops. Should prove to be good entertainment while I trying to get through and out of this mess.
I think there's a truck with water canon on the top. Can't tell, because they're covered up.

I may have gone too simplistic, or so my boss says.
She states that, given that the protesters normally march, probably to stay out of the way of rogue Avalanches (my addition), that they should be given brooms, the better to clean the streets and thus perform a public service.
As for me, I think they should also be "gapped" by the use of chains and ankle bracelets, but, then too, I have a sick mind.

Choppers everywhere, swarming above downtown Portland like angry bees. The building just locked down the loading docks and all of the doors, but one.
I see cops in tennis shoes and sweat pants on the streetcorners, to catch the quick ones I guess.
This is going to be interesting. Wonder how long it's going to take to get home tonight? :(

Hey Carlos,
If you see my mother-in-law out there protesting, give her a big hello. I never could talk any sense into that woman. She's the one in the Volvo and designer clothes...

I tried to pursuade our Mobile Field Force commander to get an old Flight Line Fire Truck from the military.
Remote control water cannon should clear out the protestors and give them a much needed bath, while dousing their joints. :neener:
He respectfully declined, even though he liked the idea, seems the chief wouldn't buy off on such tactics. :(

Scott, I'll keep an eye out for her. Birkenstocks?? :)
Yes, living in the City has its advantages and disadvantages.
30 minutes and I can get outta here. I'm going to have to jump into the middle of this feet first.

Just saw an overhead shot of some group surrounding a van or SUV in San Fransisco. Irate driver climbs out and decks the first few he could reach, then walks around vehicle punching all in reach. Group starts dispersing doubletime. I'm smiling hugely.

Last Sunday I took my family to my Dad's 83rd birthday in Colorado Springs.
Right after the Air Force Academy exit two car loads of idiot protestors stopped on the freeway.
The ones in the left lane stopped successfully and had a sign saying "please no war mr bush" in the back window.
The idiots in the right lane got severely plowed by a giant motor home.
No injuries, but a big case of the dumb a$$.

The **** is still flying in PDX as we speak. The cops are tired and the scumbags are moving out.
Lots will go to jail.
Personally, I think they should be beaten, then deported

I wish I had nothing better to do than sit in the middle of a street.
Might try blocking off access to the dorms at a local college. Or maybe chaining myself to all the bikes in a bike rack (unlocking the bikes of anyone who can show me their carry permit, of course). Any big anti-war benefit concerts coming up? Get a few SUVs to park across the entrances?

Easiest way to get rid of pot smokin protesters
No need for teargas,
Just call Dominos, and order 20 large peperonni Pizzas delivered to 206 Main street, when the pizza guy arives and yells who ordered the pizza get out of the way of the stampede, problem solved mainstreet clear for rush hour.
Once the protesters start eating Pizza they will forget why they were there and wander home, to take a nap.

They got totally out of control here in PDX last night. Demonstration lasted until after 2:00 a.m.
One cop was hurt - 10 stitches - when group basically walked over the top of the cop and his motorcycle. Then 25-30 copes on bikes and cars rolled in and dispensed massive pepper spray. :) That set em back for only a few minutes and then they proceeded across the bridges, onto freeway onramps, shut down 2 freeways.
This crap went on too long. The cops almost showed too much restraint, as far as I'm concerned.
Every single one of these scumbags should be deported.
Took my shooting buddy 2.5 hours to get home, which is normally a half-hour drive.
There are rumors this is going to happen today. .
