What about those stocks marked "Police Only" are they legal? Is there a site that has all shotgun laws?

Yes they're legal, at least here.

Chances are, you've never fired one of these.

Chances are, if you had, finding one now would be WAY down on the to do list.

Unless you've a difficult storage problem, stick with a standard stock. You'll shoot much better and have much more fun....

For future reference:
There is no Federal Law regulating folding stocks on pump-action shotguns.
There MAY be local laws in some areas.

The "Police only" marking has NO bearing in law anywhere.
You are free to stamp "US Military Only" on a pair of boots you make, but it isn't the law.

This is simply a marking Remington has put on their folding stocks for years. As far as the law goes, it has no meaning.

As for Dave Mc, he's quite right. Most people put a pistol grip or folding stock on a shotgun for the "cool" factor, but eventually remove it because the standard stock is just much better.

Thanks. I have fired my friend's 870 shotgun with the "Police Only" stock. I didn't really like it either but for a cool factor it is O.K. My 870 HD works well for me.

What I really want is one of those AOW shotguns.

These guys speak the truth. I bought the Choate folder for my Remmy. Very cool. Built like a brick, very solid lockup. Where is it, cause it aint on my Remmy? Sold it. Cools only cool until perceived recoil is increased to the point that light skeet loads felt like slugs. Hollywood junk.

I too have a Choate folder for my Rem 870. It's back in its box -- hasn't been on the 870 for ~10 years. Fairly uncomfortable to shoot.

The factory Rem's are worse than the Choates--
The metal sides cut right into your face--
Only good if you absolutely have to have a shorter weapon for storage or clearing use--

Not in Kali Did I miss something? Is a foding stock on a Rem 870 illegal? Or are you referring to the following wording in para 12276.1 of the 2003 Dangerous Weapons Control Laws
"(6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
(A) A folding or telescoping stock."
But that doesn't apply to Rem 870's, that's for semi's like 1100's and 11-87's. Good thing I don't have an assault shotgun

Having grown up with the Remmy "Law Enforcement Only" folder on all our 870's, I actually find that the regular stock sets give me more perceived recoil.

Then again, I was also always taught that if you need a recoil pad on a rifle or shotgun, you're doing something wrong...

Cheekweld, bead, shoulder, bead, perhaps pull'r back into your shoulder a little, bead, pull. Of course, miss one of those elements with a Remmy folder and your day will indeed be miserable. You probably won't be hitting very consistently that day either, with either stock.

To each his own.

I have had a factory Rem stock on my 870 for many years and like it a lot. No reason to take it off, I like it the way it is.
