Kahr PM club

The guys in the revolver forum have a S&W 642 club so I want to show support for the best small semi-auto on the market. The Kahr PM series. I have been carrying my Kahr PM9 a bunch lately in a FIST holster. It has almost replaced my Kimber CDP compact. I only wear the Kimber when I am going into some of the rougher areas of the City. I have a little over 500 rounds through my PM9 with about 50 of them being HP's. It has still never malfunctioned on me once. In fact I traded off my Kimber Tactical Ultra for another Kahr PM9 that I should be picking up Friday. So far the Kahr is about the only non 1911 that has ever kept my attention for more than a month or so.

It seems like I am the only PM fan so far anyway.
I have been impressed with my little Kahr so far. I am also thinking about picking up a T9 in the future.

I used to be a member of the "642 club", but I started carrying a PM9 about a year ago, and I have never looked back.
It goes everywhere in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster with an extra 7 round mag in the offhand pocket in a $4 sharpening stone sheath.
I probably have 700 rounds through mine now, and the only failures I had were in the first 100 rounds.

I bought a slightly used PM9 less than two weeks ago. Been to the range with it twice, about 150 rounds, not a burp. It has become my constant companion as well, replacing a S&W M60. I love these little Kahrs!

My PM40 is in pieces right now. I sent the barrel back to the factory because there appears to be some kind of defect in it. I just got it back...same barrel, same defect, no note or anything letting me know what's up. I'm definitely beginning to regret buying this thing. I won't even go into all the FTFs I experienced with it and the faulty recoil spring it came with. At this point in time I could not recommend a Kahr if I was asked by someone who was thinking of getting one.

Mine started off slow, but after 450 or 500 rounds it's been a great companion. I'm a fan, though I wouldn't buy the t-shirt (but ask me again when they come out with something in .45 ACP/GAP).

The Fan club is growing :D
Erik sorry to hear about your problems. I hope you can get your PM40 running as smooth as my PM9 has. I hope that the other PM9 I bought works out to be as flawless.
Psyopspec, Kahr has a pistol in .45ACP. Go buy it now!! :what:

I primarily use mine for a BUG, dont get me wrong, I like the pistol, but I prefer one of my 1911s.

I like mine :D I bought it used from another forum member and had a few problems with it not going fully into battery the first two times to the range. I replaced the recoil spring and lubed it up really good and it's been perfect the last two outings. The new spring may have helped but I think it's still getting broken in - it has about 350 rds through it now.
Carrying it in a Galco IWB holster at the one o'clock position is just about perfect for me. I'm a small skinny guy and I never thought I could carry IWB comfortably but the PM9 is great.

My PM9 is at the factory right now. A small section of one of the front metal rails decided to go off on its own. When it gets back I'm selling it--not because of the defect, but because I'm switching to a P9. The larger pistol fits my hand a lot better and the extra half inch of sight radius makes a lot of difference where my accuracy is concerned.
But to contribute to this thread, here are some PM9 pictures:

OK so what is the best ammo for the PM9?
I have been using 115gr. Speer Gold Dots
whats the better standard pressure load?
115gr, 124gr, 147gr. and what manufacturer.
I have been told that Cor-Bons 115gr +P is the King of 9mm ammo. ?
I think I want to stick with standard pressure stuff though.

MK9 2003 elite Best trigger I have tried on a DAO type auto. Many rounds,
mostly reloads no ftf's.
The PM40 from what I've read does seem to have more problems, hopefully
they will resolve that because the size is perfect for carry.

Bullet technolgy has improved by leaps and bounds in the last ten years. The logic seems to be that the 147 has a lower velocity threshold for expansion, so it works better out of short barrels. Seems to be counter intuitive on the surface, especially after all of the Marshall-Sanow stuff, but when you think about it a bit it makes a lot of sense. I think LASO, LAPD, and SDSO use the 147 gr. Ranger. They seem to be happy with it.
I like the 124 gr. +P Gold Dots as well, but the 147 gr. Rangers recoil less, and are a bit more accurate in my PM9.
I doubt you could go wrong with either.

MK9 here.
I am a dedicated Kel-Tec fan, but I came over to the dark side and bought an MK9.
I LOVE the feel, fit and finish. It's been reliable without a hiccup so far, but I AM having a problem in that I am not as accurate with it as I am my P11.
I CAN, however, conceal the MK9 in a pair of khakis or jeans with no problem, but the extra 1/2" in each direction of the KT poses snagging issues and problems with pocket carry.
I'll keep practicing to get better with the Kahr, since it's become my favorite carry gun.

One thing I would like to know from the members of our Kahrs gone Kahrazy Klub is what type of ammo you have shot through your Kahr. Also if any certain type of ammo has given you Kahr problems.
So far I have shot WWB 115gr. CCI Blazer 115gr. those two have been the majority. I have also shot the WWB 115gr. HP's, 115gr. Speer Gold Dot and my newest carry round 147gr. Winchester Ranger ( RA9T ) It has all functioned perfectly. I do think that as far as the practice ammo goes the 115gr. CCI Blazer has been more accurate than the 115gr. WWB Ball ammo.

I've fired a fair bit of Win USA 115 gr. JHP in my PM-9 without a hitch.

I just made my first post on the site to a Kahr thread. Thought I'd add it here too for what it's worth:
New member here. As a matter of fact, this is my 1st post. I've been shooting since I was a young kid growing up in rural Mississippi. Served in the U.S. Army & Coast Guard. I've had my CCW permit for 5+ years but have never felt need to carry outside of the home or automobile.
A recent incident convinced me to carry ALL THE TIME. (See rule #1 of a gunfight - HAVE A GUN)
I wanted something that I would carry without excuse. Holsters and changing the way I dress was just not an option as I knew it could get old, fast. I wanted a gun I could put in my pocket, period.
After a ton of research, mainly on this site, I narrowed it down between a Kahr PM9 and S&W J Frame. I've always been a revolver fan but I do own several semi-autos and count on a "Plastic" gun for HD (HK USP 45 Full Size). After over a thousand rounds with little cleaning, I really trust the HK to do it's job.
Anyway, back on topic, I wanted a Kahr but chose a S&W after shooting a Kahr PM at my local gun range recently. A stranger walked in while I was in the midst of my dilemma and he was carrying a Kahr PM9. I asked if I could shoot it and he said no problem.
He told me that if I did decide to buy one, to expect problems during the first 200 or so rounds but that after that, it should be fine (like his was supposed to be). What a jam-o-matic. He blamed it on the ammo. After shooting his PM9, I borrowed a range rental that was filthy. Probably had not been cleaned in well over a thousand rounds. (S&W / Walther 99 I think)
Same ammo. 50 rounds. Not a hiccup. Made up my mind right away. Told the range to order me a S&W 638 that night. Got it. Put a set of Crimson Trace laser grips on it and couldn't be more tickled!
Never used lasers before. First trip to the range, thought they may be more of a hindrance than a help. Found out later that aiming at a bullseye vs. a point on a silhouette is two totally different things. Must be mental. When aiming the bullseye, you want to hit dead center. When aiming at a part of the body, you just want to get close.
At 21 feet, 5 rounds, rapid fire as fast as I could pull the IMO heavy S&W trigger, all double action...5 out of 5 in the head. Same for center mass. Same for the gut region.
Nothing against the Kahr. Pined over them again at a local gun show today as a matter of fact but, when it's truly a matter of life or death for me and / or others, it's gotta go bang EVERY time PERIOD.
Although I can shoot very well, after all my time in the service I am very aware that when the SHTF everything changes and I'll take any advantage I can get. Besides the reliability, the laser option and actual proving of the concept sealed the deal for me.
Still want a Kahr PM9 and to be a member of yall's club but, just couldn't choose it first over the S&W J Frame and glad I didn't.
Only one humble man's opinion. Take it with a pound of salt as you have no way of knowing what it's worth since you don't know ME. :)

My PM-9 has run flawlessly from the get go with whatever 9mm ammo I've put in it. Mine is a great little gun, so compact and lightweight... no excuse NOT to have it. And it's as reliable as any of my revolvers. I love it. I would not like to have 40 caliber in a PM model and I understand the PM-40 might be a little more troublesome than the PM-9.

I bought one of the first PM9's available. It ran pretty good after the first 200 rounds or so then Kahr sent me a barrel recall notice. It was handled very professionally, and after the barrel change it still never missed a beat till over 1000 rounds of ALL kinds of ammo from WB to +P Gold Dots.
I liked it so well I sold it to buy my PM40. It has the DLC slide and night sights. Brand new it had a couple of issues fully chamering the round in the 1st 100 rounds but after that it has been as dependable and as accurate as my PM9 was..... so far at least.

Can't stand "pinky hangers" so the PM was out for me (pinky hanger is what I call a gun where you can't get all 5 fingers on it. Help from mag ok for 1/2 a pinky!)
So I bought the P9. I tell you what. . . I LOVE this thing! I'm not crazy about the sights but I'm trying to get used to them. Dead on accuracy, second best trigger (after my worked 1911 trigger) and it's the size of a Walther PPK with a MUCH better cailber and MUCH better recoil! Great job KAHR!!! :)
