Any issues with swapping the 28" barrel on a left-hand 870 Express with an 18" barrel?
In other words, will a barrel from a right-hand gun work with a left-hand receiver?

No. LH actions need LH barrels. Sorry....

There are no dumb questions. You just saved yourself some time and aggravation.
Order a LH 18" bbl from Remington or find a lefty to cut down.

I am left handed and have come across very few right-handed firearms that give me any problems. I tend to buy right handed rifles/shotguns/handguns as they are redily available and easier to sell than lefties.
Its what I was brought up on so I guess I just adapted.
One of the few firearms that I couldn't shoot left-handed was a Marlin lever gun in 357mag. No mater how I tried, that little bugger would deposit a nice hot brass case on my right arm every time. :scrutiny:
Otherwise, no problem.
I kinda like having my stronger hand on the grip and being able to roll it outward (palm up) to feed, load, clear, inspect, unload, etc.
I guess its just a matter of what you are comfortable with.

Order a LH 18" bbl from Remington
Do they make one? Looking through their parts list (http://www.remington.com/pdfs/m870parts.pdf), I only see two barrels listed: a 20" deer barrel, and a 28" vent rib.

I'm a lefty that shoots a right handed 870 just fine.
