Saw a new story that stated that the US military can't use pepper spray in the urban areas of Iraq because it qualifies as a "chemical agent" in a treaty that was signed years ago. What kind of twist of fate is that? :scrutiny:

Yep,

No tear gas, no pepper, nothing like that.

Sad to say, you can't even use it to disperse civilians if they are being used as shields for combatants. More good work out of the Clinton administration. :fire:

While countries may use nonlethal chemicals domestically for law enforcement and crowd control, the Chemical Weapons Convention that took force in 1997 and has been ratified by 149 countries including The United States, specifies: "Each state party undertakes not to use riot control agents as a method of warfare."

Oranisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (http://www.opcw.org/)

You can knife'm, shoot'm, burn'm or blow them to pieces, but using non-lethal teargas is a no-no.

Can't we get some Iraqis on our side and let THEM use it?

You can knife'm, shoot'm, burn'm or blow them to pieces, but using non-lethal teargas is a no-no.Even more ironic to me is that it's OK to do things to your own citizens (tear gas, OCR spray, JHPs) that you can't do in a war.

My GF was in Sweden two years ago. They have laws that prohibit nightclubs from searching your bag or using a metal detector on you because that's considered an invasion of your privacy. At the same time, if you even make a joke about drugs, it's grounds for arrest for suspicion (like making jokes about hijacking at airports).

It's a wiggly world.

Give each frount line cook a large can or OC. Add to Cook books that a half second burst into a 25 gallon pot of chilli is just about right. Because all of the OC (Pepper Spray) made in the U.S. is Food Grade (Yes I'm a Chemical Weapons instructor) then if the Locals get out of line just send the Cooks up to "Feed" them. :D

Shortly there after the locals will :fire: for about 20 minutes or so.
