okay, so last night i'm flipping channels, and all thats on is stupid programming like 'will & grace' or movies i've seen dozens of times and that stupid videophone stuff on fox/foxnews. who the heck told them that we wanted to see 64kps video on a low bandwidth connection??? fire those idiots now!
anyways, the channel changer flips me to mtv and its their "news" segment, which we all know they put a great deal of effort and research into providing an unbiased outlook on any topic they feel its PC to address (just like BET was advertising that they'd have 'up to the minute coverage of the war in iraq!' and constituted a ticker banner on the bottom line of the screen every half hour or so, to announce "news" items that happened 12 hours ago.)
so MTVnews is airing an interview of a couple of kids in baghdad about the impending war (must've been filmed a couple weeks ago) and these kids are asked "if you could talk to the President of the USA what would you say to him?"
their answer is along the lines of "Why are you doing this to us? we have done nothing to you. its the government that is bad, not us."
the kids are asked if they remember the bombings in 1998 and they relate how terrified they were and how their family couldnt sleep and how it scarred them for life.
the cameras go into the kids family home, and its very nice. modern. and stocked full of goods from heathen americans. the kids have all the amenities american kids have. computers. boomboxes. playstation 2. xbox. posters of will smith ("he's a great actor and singer!"), backstreet boys, britney spears. they indulge in the american lifestyle. they watch american movies. they listen to american music. they admit they want to come to america.
(about this time, i'm thinking that if this interview is aired in iraq, these kids would be hung for their disloyalty.)
then the interviewer asks them about 9/11. they described their countrymens response to it as 'joyful'. they were happy that America was attacked. there was rejoicing in the streets.
the interviewer asks the kids their thoughts about 9/11.
with disgust and hate in their eyes, they replied:
"They deserved it."
