I Miss Colts!

I love my Smith & Wessons, but it's nice to mix it up a little bit.
I wish Colt would start their whole line again.

That looks like a Trooper Mark III to me. Mine was a dandy.
I'd like to see Colt get back into the revolver line of workâbut if and only if it makes a commitment to quality control. Recent production Pythons I've looked at in gun shops were decidedly inferior to Smith & Wessons and Rugers.

I still believe that the Trooper line is one of the most under appreciated revolver lines available. Made the mistake of selling a Mk II about 15 years ago. Felt much better when I picked up a Mk IIII that was every bit as good if not better. I won't make the same mistake twice.

Actually, I had two Trooper Mark IIIs. The first was a six-incher I bought new, but left with my ex-wife when we went our separate ways. I bought it because I wanted a Python, but couldn't afford it. The second was bought new by a friend who took it canoeing and left it at the bottom of a lake one winter. I rescued it, replaced virtually all the internal parts, shot it awhile, and sold it. It was a pretty good design, so of course, Colt scrapped it.

I bought my ex-wife a colt "special lady" 38 years ago. It was unlike any other gun. I don't miss the woman but I really miss that gun. Colt DA revolvers are like no other.
I am glad my dad bought an Anaconda when he did.
I also have a pair of nickel plated matching, sequentially numbered police positives in my safe. They are pretty nice but I never shoot them.
I'd love a python someday but the next 900 bucks I save goes to a P7M8 instead :)

I kick myself a few years ago for not snatching up a pristine older nightstand .38 Colt detective special from an estate sale. But I already had a SP101 for that purpose, but I mean, it was a really nice gun. Probably had no more than 10 rounds through it. Stupid! It was cheap too, only $200. Oh the blueing was so beautiful, not a mark or a sign of wear. It was one of those regrets you have to learn to live with.

I'd like to see a stainless snubbie like the Magnum Carry come back. Also, I'd like to have an Anaconda in .44 mag or .45 Colt, but I'm not willing to $1000 just because it was made by somebody's custom shop. The Python is a different matter, they've always been expensive and I would expect to pay in the $700 range of a new one (in bright stainless, mind you). Colt have a viable double action semi-auto, so bringing back bread and butter defense revolvers could only help them.
