An interesting Turkish proverb came up in class today. Apparently, when someone in Turkey says "c'mon, what could go wrong?", the proper response is "Sheytan doldurur".

As the prof explained it, the term refers to chastising a friend for pointing an "unloaded" gun at you. If someone covers you with the muzzle of their weapon, then rolls their eyes and insists it's not loaded when you complain, you respond:

"Sheytan doldurur"

("the Devil might load it")

A great reply, and good for many of life's situations, especially for those of us with dumb friends. -MV

[note: due to lack of Turkish font on THR, I'm anglicizing]

Very cool... But, when I say that to someone, I'd better hope they understand Turkish! :D
