Not looking too good for him. Hope he pulls through, but depending on how things go he might not make it to retirement.

Having watched my son go through two years of chemo a number of years back (T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Luekemia -- he made it), it doesn't surprise me that Rhenquist is in the hospital with a fever.
The treatment that cures you also sometimes almost kills you. (Chemo knocks down one's ability to fight infection -- so fevers are not unusual.)
They'll put him in insolation, do what they can to keep him from getting worse, and maybe he'll get better.
The fact that he hasn't retired is probably a sign that he hasn't given up hope. (My son's doctors didn't put much faith in that "will to live," having seen folks with great attitudes die and people with crappy attitudes live). But I'd like to think that the experience is better with a better attitude.
Cancer is ugly.

Walt - Glad to hear your son recovered. Having a young daughter the thought of going through that with a child scares the crap out of me. A lot more so than the thought of going through it myself.
