Gun control: hypocrisy or stupidity?

This guy gets it:
In a way, the continuing gun control controversy is much like the prohibition problem in Oklahoma in the fifties and sixties. It was the belief of many that prohibitionists and bootleggers were united in their efforts to prevent the legal sale of alcoholic beverages. In gun control, those who can afford private alarm systems and bodyguards are united with criminals in their desire to keep guns out of the hands of honest citizens.

Indeed - although, I would still much rather carry my own gun at all times than depend on any alarm system or bodyguard even if I was that wealthy!. It's all down to me - no one else.
Knowing my luck, if I had a bodyguard chances are if something went down he'd be either asleep or on the john. :D
But yeah - these are the folks who think legit armed citizens should be ''controlled''. I guess lest they see the mythical rivers of blood.

Yes, but those big shots DO carry.
They get special treatment in NYC, in CA and in MA, probably in Joysey too.
I know this for a fact.
My Rich & Famous Neighbor™ lives in NYC and LA and has a country house next door to me in CT. She had an NYC gun permit. Unfortunately, she got into a legal issue over an alleged assault and was horrified when the police turned up and confiscated her guns. She claimed she has 2 stalkers.
The richer and more famous you are the more likely you will have a "need" for a permit in those places that don't readily hand them out.
I told her to get an evil black shotgun in CT.

There's a fair quantity of truth in that statement.
I have a hunch many so-called "gun controllers" are frightened urban types who are terrified of the very idea of young, unmarried males of color with firearms. They're people who not only want government to protect them, but don't care whose rights are trampled in the pursuit of imaginary government protection.
The people who make a serious issue of so-called "gun control" are socialist parasites. They know they'll never be able to shove socialism down America's throat as long as there are armed citizens prepared to resist their putsch. They regard themselves as the vanguard, the élite, the wave of the future—and of course, they're therefore entitled to special privileges. It's no coincidence that that Feinstein creature has a concealed weapons permit, nor that the Hero of Chappaquiddick surrounds himself with heavily armed bodyguards. The anti-Second Amendment bigotry they're pushing is for commoners, not the élite. They need criminals to keep Americans frightened and let the state pose as the benevolent protector.
Socialism is a crime against humanity.

I'd say gun-control is both stupid and hypocritical. It seems that the people pushing for controlling measures either have no knowledge of firearms other than what their political party teaches them, or always seem to want some exception to where they are still allowed to carry/be protected, just as long as no one else can :fire: :cuss: Mayhaps they want it just like England--where only the landed upper-class can own firearms, just like back in the 17th/18th centuries? :scrutiny:

I'd say you hit the nail square on the head and drove it so far down into the wood it is now countersunk!
They want us to be in complete control...their complete control. I would say that is exactly what many of the elitist are going for. They have been told ever since they were knee high to a cow paddie that they were better than everyone else. I believe they simply took to it. Now in positions of power, they would like that much more of it and be able to drive all of us peons into doing what they think is best for them.

Many gun control advocates project their feelings of inadequacy, ineptitude and self doubt onto others. Since they feel they cannot master firearms and their own emotions, no one else can and therefore no one should have firearms.
Then some are just simple elitists and only they are wise enough to posess and use firearms.
The rest are like Ted Kennedy. They're just *********s.
If you want to understand what propels modern Liberalism, the gun control issue is a prime study.
