If your 1911 hiccups, during what function does it malfunction?

You need another choice: "No Malfunctions."
My Kimber Custom Defender II has never had any problems.

You need another option- all of the above.
My Kimber eclipse pro 2 has perhaps the highest level of malfunctions I have ever experienced with any weapon. Every jam known to man, and mediocre accuracy to boot. Hopefully it's upcoming trip to the manafacturer will cure it.

The 1911's I have now run like swiss watches. I have had a few issues with past guns but nothing extraordinary or any worse than other service type guns.
THE number ONE problem in 1911 land is bad magazines, I'd lay money on it.

NONE of my 1911s (let's just say I have several), Colt's, Kimbers and Springfield Armory, have any feeding or extraction problems. Frankly, I feel most of these situations are so easily cured (either by magazine selection or extractor tuning) that there's no excuse to put up with 'em.
Also, this thread title seems to feed into the myth that all 1911s have one type of functioning problem or another. For those of us who understand the platform and learn how our pistols operate, perpetuating the myth does no one any good. Apparently, manufacturers' spotty quality control and the lack of good local gunsmithing available to everyone has cursed the 1911 in the eyes of today's spoiled gunowners.

No where to check they all work fine. Biggest problems with 1911 is People trying to make it what it isn't. and then Mags. Remember the 1911 was designed as a combat weapon not a paper puncher. If you want 1 ragged hole in you target you will give up something in return. Like having a depenable SD weapon.

Old Dog, you`re reading too much into my poll. I simply did it out of curiousity. Ive had about a dozen 1911s and all but 2 functioned fine. This thread is simply to my reading pleasure, I dont read the newspaper ever, so here I am everyday.

I currently have 3 M1911s:
1. A Fed Ord "kit gun" which I finished and built. This kit had several sub-standard parts, including a slide with a firing pin tunnel that came out too low in the face of the breech, so that the firing pin hit the edge of the primer. I put a new slide on it -- one of the early Ciener .22 Conversion Kits -- and it shoots fine now. I've been promising myself I'll pick up a good slide so I can shoot .45 ACP reliably in it.
2. An Argentine M1927 -- shoots anything I feed it.
3. A Kimber Classic Custom -- shoots anything I feed it.

My Colts (over twenty from the last few years of production) run like tops - remarkable reliability.
My Ed Brown bobtail Commander runs like a top.
My older Kimber Stainless (made well before series II ever came out) runs like a top.
My TRP has mostly run well... just a bobble here or there... not sure why yet.
My older Kimber CDP Compact (also well before series II) has only had one or two bobbles in a couple thousand rounds.
My Kimbers and Springfields that were jammers have long since been liquidated!
These days I pretty much just buy more Colt 1911's.

Kimber Compact Stainless: No malfunctions.
Kimber Classic Stainless: No malfunctions.
Kimber Polymer Stainless: A few hiccups fixed with a new slide stop and magsprings, however no malfunctions in 8-10k rounds. I'm expecting magspring issues any day though.
Stainless Colt 1991A1: No malfunctions in the time I owned it.
Springfield Mil-Spec: No malfunctions.
Para Companion: Extractor issues during break-in, swapped for a wilson part. No malfunctions since (however this has the lowest round count on it - needs refinished).
AMT Hardballer: Believe it or not, no malfunctions. The accuracy sucked though...
