She lives near me, and has visited my mom's house for various dinners and stuff. My mom works for a lot of charity organizations around here, so she deals with some of the local politicos.

I am one of her constituents. I wrote her a couple years ago about SB 489 (incremental handgun ban requiring magazine disconnects and loaded chamber indicators). She predictably blew me off; she's been a consistent supporter of gun control. She was the author of a failed bill to ban gun shows at the state-owned Cow Palace.
I believe she was shot multiple times years ago by some Jonestown crazy, which probably colors her views of guns today.

Jackie Speir is the very typical bay area left wing wacko. She's never held a real job or created a business, she alway sponged off the Democrat machine that runs the bay area.
Her late husband was a doctor, he got killed by getting hit in his car by an illegal alien, with ni insurence. So guess what Jackie dreams up? She dreams up a bill to require proof of insurence when you renew your registraion each year. When some felons on parole living at a half way house a few blocks from the Cow Place in Daley City felt 'bad' about the gun shows held there, she had to have the evil gun shows banned..
Her last biggest flap is with Arnold (he take a salary of $1 and year as govenor) because he was a consutate/column writer for a couple of body builder magazines.
This woman needs to get off the liberal gravy train and get a real job for once and work like us regular people.

She was very active with Boxer, Feinstein, Perata, and Ortiz during the heyday of anti-gun legislation, culminating in the enactment of SB-23.
One of her more recent claims to fame was the Cow Palace Gun Show, where she introduced legislation to prevent that venue from happening, both at the Cow Palace and other taxpayer-owned properties. She had no problem with the annual Exotic Erotic Ball happening there, though. :scrutiny:

Before the Jonestown massacre/suicides we lived in San Mateo County and leo Ryan was our elected representative. He had sponsored a private billl which allowed my MIL to remain in the states.
When he went to Jonestown he was accompanied by Jackie Spear, among others. She ran for office to replace him after he was killed in Jonestown. She got a lot of sympathy votes I am sure. We had moved some miles north of SF by that time. The jonestown incident was in November of 1978.
When the anti-whacos were busily banning standard capacity mags I had called a female demoncat named Woolsey about it. The person on the phone speaking for her said it was a done deal and just laughed in my face. I had said that the rreduction in capacity to 10 rounds would not deter criminals since they do not obey laws anyway.
Jackie Spear is not to be trusted with your money or your firearms.
