Dry firing a FAL

I have a FAL parts gun. The action seems rough. I would like to dry fire it so that the action wears in. Will this damage anything? Do I need a snap cap to do this? Thanks.

It's a battle rifle...it is tough. Use a snap cap if you wish but you don't need to.

If you never "dry fire" your chance of a N.D. goes way down. That being said I have ~5k live fires thru my FAL, and I would estimate 25k dry fires. I did have to replace a metric 1 piece firing pin with a DSA 2 piece one at about 500 rounds, but after that have I banged and clicked away with no problems.
