Belt Recommendations Anyone?

I'm in the market for a belt that will serve as a good platform for a CCW/holster. I've had it with paying $25 for a wimpy belt every year or so.

I dress casual for work (khakis, button down shirts, jeans on occasion) and would like a belt that would look decent with both jeans and khakis (Docker type), but hold up under CCW use and abuse.

I'm looking for quality, durability, and good looks all in one package. Price range is under $100, but I'd prefer to spend under $60.

Any recommendations?

Can definitely get a great belt from Galco for under $100. Under $60 would be pushing it. However, I will say that I paid around $80 for mine and so far it has lasted more than twice as long as any other belt I have ever owned and only shows minor cosmetic signs of wear.

I know there are other good ones out there, but this is my experience. Best of luck!

Wild Bill has some very good quality belts. I've had a batch of bad luck with DeSantis. Looking forward to checking out Del Fatti's work shortly.

If your mode of dress runs to "Western" check out Justin belts. I purchased a dress black for $40 retail, and I find it is stiff enough to support my Galco Scout and its C7-45 LDA.

Galco. I've got two, one black and one tan. They will NEVER wear out, and are very well made.

I have a Rosen that is pretty sweet. One word of advice: If you're skinny I would get a straight belt, if you're medium to heavy build I would go for a contoured.

Good stiff belt.

I wear a 1.5" Dillon Leather belt and it has served me very well. I need another because it has gotten a bit too worn for "good" wear although still very serviceable for everyday use. I think they are still less than $50.

For a very good inexpensive belt try Don Hume. www.donhume.com
More expensive, but very well made try FIST Inc. www.fist-inc.com

I got two Rafter shark skin gun belts last October. Black 1.5 inch and brown 1.25 inch. I wear the brown nearly every day. No wear is showing yet.

Thought I'd try adding a less pricey belt; extremely satisfied.

Great service too, check here: http://gunnersalley.zoovy.com

I've been using a belt made by Nautica which you can find in Macys or other department stores for about $25. It's 1 1/2" x 1/4" thick and I've been pleasantly surprised on how well it has held up. I've used the Nautica belt for over 5 years and recently replaced it with another Nautica. Take a look in your local department stores for nice stiff leather belts. I carry a Glock 23 plus a dual mag holder.

Milt Sparks or Rusty Sherrick.

I personally prefer 1.5" belts made from horsehide. They have always done a great job of holding my full-size 1911s in place.

Both are more than $60 (Sparks $75 and Sherrick $85) but worth every penny and will last you a very long time.

I have three belts from Mitch Rosen (http://www.mitchrosen.com) that fit perfectly, perform as claimed, and have lasted longer than department store belts. Expensive? Yup—until you consider the life expectancy of the average belt from a men's shop, department store, or catalogue. Good customer service.

Mark Walden of Walden Holsters makes a superb belt. It's stiff enough that I use it as a separate duty belt at the range, but classy enough that I can wear it with business casual dress at the office.

Shake, checkout www.raftersgunleather.com. I will second Kentucky Rifle on the Rafter S belts. I have a 1 3/4 black cowhide belt that is great. I believe I paid $65 or so.

Check out the link that Modifiedbrowning
provided. I've thought of a couple of other things I should have said regarding Rafter. Rafter makes belts in all different types of exotic hides. Even elephant. Very tough stuff! Also, when you call to ask a question or order a product~you're TALKING to the guy who is going to make your belt.
I just like shark skin. My wife ordered me a brown, 1.25 inch wide gunbelt and matching shark skin holster for my J-frames and a black, 1.5 inch wide gunbelt and matching shark skin holster for my Glock 27. (With a silver buckle. It's beautiful! :) ) It's pure art!

I have three belts from Mitch Rosen (http://www.mitchrosen.com) that fit perfectly, perform as claimed, and have lasted longer than department store belts.
I have a Rosen belt that is stamped "Mitchell Leatherworks" that I have worn almost everyday for the past 11 years. I've worn it with suits, I've worn it with jeans, & I've worn it with shorts. It is starting to show its age, but it's still functional. I did buy a sharkskin belt a couple of years ago as a "dress" belt, but I've worn it maybe a dozen times. $95/11 years = $8.63/year, if I get no more use out of it.
Buy quality.
A number of quality makers have been mentioned in this thread, and most are less expensive than Rosen. Saving money is fine, so long as you buy quality.

for $40 I like this one:
http://www.uncle-mikes.com/m_holsters_p.asp?grpky=86

one nice feature, is that the buckel is held on with Chicago screws, so you can chage it. It comes with a gold color one, wich would look fine with dockers, but I mostly wear it with jeans. So I took an old belt I had (of the same thickness) and cut off the buckle (brushed silver) and put it on the new belt. Now I can switch between the gold one and a silver one...

I have a Ted Blocker dress belt (leather) and a Wilderness utility belt (black nylon). Both are very good for holding up heavy guns. Sparks and Mitch Rosen belts are also excellent.

Disregard all other posts unless they recommend Rafter S Gunleather.

Cheaper than almost any of the others but still higher in quality. I've been wearing one of their belts every day since way before they ever "went public" and it shows almost no real wear...just honest "breaking in".

Law enforcement friends put me onto G. William Davis belts many years ago. I've now outgrown two of these contoured jobs, and don't know how to find another.

Anyone out there know?

ps, I really like to shoot an S & W 38/44 Outdoorsman just like Elmer Kieth.

If you wear a 36 you may be in luck. I have one in good shape that I outgrew. Let me know if you are interested.

Wilderness Tactical??? ???

Oh yeah... now THIS oughta look good with a nice pair of Khakis or jeans... :scrutiny:

http://www.thewilderness.com/Media/instructor_175bk.gif

Heck, it'll even match the HiTechs and black SWAT ballcap you wear with your Business Casual attire!

I dress casual for work (khakis, button down shirts, jeans on occasion) and would like a belt that would look decent with both jeans and khakis (Docker type), but hold up under CCW use and abuse.

Might I suggest Gunner's Alley (http://gunnersalley.zoovy.com/category/factorysecondsholsters.belts). They have Don Hume overstocks and factory seconds for $30 - $40. I know you said $100 was your max, but in reality, you could probably use at least 2 belts to match your work clothes, (black and brown) and this would allow you to do that. I appreciate quality, but I'm perfectly happy driving a Dodge 1500 even though there's a 3500 available at a higher price. It all depends on your needs and intended use.

My Wilderness tactical belt came today. Refer to this thread on GlockTalk for my opinion on it. Its one of the last posts.

How many of you use a thicker belt for carrying? (http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=144643)

I was in the same situation about a year ago, and I asked many people for their opinion on belts. The majority of people who claimed that they had tried just about every brand out there, recommended Alessi as the absolute best there is, regardless of price.
I bought one and have not regretted it. It's beautiful, extremely well made, and seems like it will last just about forever.
I'm very interested in trying a belt from this guy though.
