I need training!

anyone know of a good place to get some firearm training for a 22 year old relatively new handgunner who will eventually be working in law enforcement.

i am in the northern central alabama area. (athens, decatur, huntsville)

Check at Larry's (?) in Huntsville. Not so sure of the name or location (Memorial Parkway, maybe?) anymore, but that is a fine gunshop/range in Huntsville I was at a few years ago.

The is training info posted at The Ammo Dump, the indoor range at Larry's Pistol and Pawn on North Parkway in Huntsville. They have literature for Tiger McKee's Shootrite Academy:

I don't know Tiger McKee, but I shoot IDPA with Matt Sims who runs Alabama Defensive Pistol Academy in Gadsden and he is a superb shot.

And if you want a little competiton to keep your trigger finger exercised, the Tactical Training Group shoots IDPA matches there on the First and Third Tuesday evening after store hours, signup at 6:00 PM. And other places in the area as well.
