If ATF/FBI comes calling, what can I expect?

So I've bought my fifth handgun in under a month and a half, all purchased from legitimate dealers, transferred through the same FFL, phone calls made to the FBI, etc etc. I hear rumors that after the fifth handgun (gun in general) in a certain timespan, the FFL holder is required to fill out a different form notifying someone that I have been very spendy.
Should I expect increased monitoring of my internet activities? Perhaps covert surveillance of my apartment by black vans? Some well-dressed gentlemen asking after me at work?

Probably just a letter, if even that. When I bought some HK magazines from a seller in Germany that later got busted for selling contraband NFA items via Internet all the ATF sent was a letter requesting that I call an agent at the local office.
When I explained that the stuff I bought were just pre-ban magazines and perfectly legal he said I'd probably never hear from him again.

Did you buy two handguns from the same FFL in within five business days? http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/faq2.htm#f5
If not it's unlikely the ATF will ever know.
Also, why worry about the FBI? They aren't primary agency on gun cases, ATF is. Why is it whenever someone is concerned with a federal matter they mention the FBI even when it's unlikely for them to be involved?

I sometimes go crazy and pruchase multiple pistols in a single week. I have never heard from the ATF. I asked several dealers I do buisness with and was told that what triggers them is someone buying multiple purchases of the same firearm, especially "budget" guns. Leads them to believe that you may be making straw purchases.
My understanding is that if they do contact you they will want to verify that you actually have the guns in question.

Sounds like we are talking about a police state. We have so many laws passed without our knowledge that we probably break a bunch each day.
The government keeps passing laws against its citizens as we sleep.

I seriously doubt the ATF or FBI would be interested in a few handgun purchases, and certainly not to the point of surveillance.

That might do it then. Three of them were Makarovs, but I wouldn't part with any of the three readily. Too much gun for so few dollars!
I only mentioned FBI because it's their office that always gets called on the background checks (at least I think that's the office that's called, could be wrong)

You don't live in a "compound" do you? They hate compounds like tornado's hate mobile homes... :)
I heard Martha Stewart tried lying to a federal agent type once upon a time... didn't do her much harm in the overall scheme of things... tho' she may not be able to own a firearm now... and that'd be bad for you, (not her).
It's just one more piece of data entry into your files somewhere... :scrutiny:

Buying 3 or more coffee cans in a week will also trigger montioring/surveilence.
