Hey all,

A friend of mine has an old Winchester and apparently its missing the bolt to fire it. 67A is the model number. It uses .22 S.L OR L.R. We're going to take it to the gunshop near my house, but I was just wondering if anyone here could quote a few prices on what it might cost to fix it up, clean it, and make it ready to be used. Its really old and it's been sitting around in a closet. Its about 20 to 30 years old (he thinks) I'll try to get pics up later.

Before going much further with your project, give the bore a good scrubbing and make sure it's in good condition. Then separate the metal from the wood to check for pitting and missing parts. Remove buttplate to see if any info is there.

The bolt may have been placed under lock and key or in someone's jewel box or liquor cabinet to insure safety. It could also have been cannibalized to repair a better gun. Although 67's were pretty widespread, it might take some time and more than $90 to get a new bolt in. If other repairs are needed, you would be in danger of paying more than the gun is worth to make it work. That's why you want to make sure it is sound in all other respects.

Good point, and from the Dakotas too.

I think that a lot more information about the gun is necessary to give you any prices that meant any thing.
The last complete bolt I saw, they wanted about $80. but then that was in 1990. Maybe someone here
will have one. The people that do this kind of work would want to see it in person to quote anything that
they would be held to. Good luck.

Aitch Kay--The first place to turn to when the question is parts for an older firearm is Gun Parts Corp, of West Hurley, NY. The former Numrich Arms Corp. They are at www.e-gunparts.com

Good people, and (pun intended :D ) square shooters!
