A simple question?

This is probably a no-brainer that I've just missed out on...
I've searched here, packing.org, a couple states confuzzled gun regs...
Everybody knows you can't buy a pistol if you are a non-resident of the state, without shipping it to an FFL in your state...
But what about selling one in a state you don't reside in?
Do the same laws apply?

If your not a resident of that state the transfer will still be required to go thru an FFL.

Everybody knows you can't buy a pistol if you are a non-resident of the state...Buying or selling has nothing to do with it. It's transferring that is regulated. Whenever ownership is transferred, the rules apply.

I think interstate transportation of a firearm would be a problem, you would have to ship it to an FFL to legally get it into the state.

I figured that was the case but just wanted to be sure.
Thanks for the info.

It's actually legal in CA, just have to use a FFL. You can't import a handgun for sale, but if you happen to decide to sell one while traveling here, it's OK. Just make sure the person you're going to sell to can own it, otherwise the CA FFL will have to ship it back to a FFL in your home state.
There are lots of guns not on the "approved list" that people might like to buy from you if you travel here, since private party transfers (using a FFL) are exempt from the list.

but again... the actual transfer has to be done by an FFL....
