As C.H. Luke pointed out in another thread (Steyr M9 1000+ shot review... (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13780) ), ownership of the Steyr pistols is kinda cult-ish. So, let's just take a poll and see just how many THR members belong to the cult.

I have the M40, but since I am 400 miles from home I don't have any of the other info, paid $285 lightly used. I had an S9 NIB, but sold it. I do still have my GB that an old girlfriend gave me for my birthday in 1985, my favorite handgun. As for Steyr rifles I have an SSG69 Match (PII), two MkIII Pro (.30-06 and .270). I had a Luxus .30-06 NIB, but sold it, just couldn't bring myself to shoot it.

Can't do that one either, I'm sure there are groups out there that use the word "club" as well.

I guess we're just screwed, oh well life goes on.

I've had a Steyr GB for about 5 years now, probably the BEST 9mm I've ever seen.
Also have the Steyr Model M for past 2 years and gave my son one for his birthday.
Steyr isn't for everyone but those who have one wouldn't swap it for anything I don't think....

If there is anyone out there looking to sell a S9 please let me know. I really would like to have a S9 to round out my collection. I am sick of all of the naysayers out there whenever we get a thread going where we can all talk about our favorite handguns we always get all of these people that tell us what a bad choice we made. If they are so convinced that the Steyr is a POS why not just start their own little "I hate Steyr thread".

I think with time the Steyr M and S series handguns will gain more and more credibility. There are some big corporate distributors out there now. Things will only get better for all Steyr gun owners.

My son and I both own a GB. Kinda odd, that, but there you have it.

BTW, there's a GB on display in the Smithsonian - it was one of the finalists in the search for a replacement for the 1911 A1. As we know, it didn't make the final cut. The reasons for its failure are still being debated in some circles.

This has been my EDC gun since June '02 the more I shoot it the more I like it. This will be the only gun I will own two of just in case something were to happen to one. Everyone I have let shoot has been impressed especially if I have my G23 with me so they can shoot them side by side. The steyr definitely is an improvement over the Glocks.:D

Absolutely the most accurate handgun I own. I got a S&W 15 round mag and cut a new notch in it and it works flawless.

unknown ejection port upgrade
gsi said the trigger job was completed
less than 1000 rounds

had some problems failing to go into battery. Steyr sent a couple replacement spring/guide rods after a couple emails in which i indicated that i expected the warranty to be honored even though they dont have an importer (or had one at that time)
since then i havent put too many rounds through the m40, i need to replace the rear sight, and will probably have some night sights put on.

same as m40
over 2000 rounds

replaced guide rod/recoil spring same time i replaced m40's. didnt need it, but wanted a fresh start. with original spring/rod, and over 1000 rounds, only one malfunction (failure to extract). after replacing, after nearly 1000 rounds, one malfunction (fail to fire, could have been a bad round).

Since I just put a M9 on lay-a-way today.

Clue me in on the trigger upgrade---how would I know if my gun has it when I get it home???

The goofy sights are what sold me too----it was down to the Springfield XD9 and the Steyr---the money difference wasn't a factor---I was going to take the one I liked the best.

Anyway---back to the sights----bringing each pistol up quickly---with the XD--I had to search for the sights-------with the Steyr's goofy sights it was BAM right there instantly---that's what sold me in the end. Even though I'll have to go buy extra magazines.

oh ya------$350 BTW.

RF.

You can do a search on here or TFL about "Steyr Trigger Upgrade" and probably find out the general SN range when the Trigger upgrades were no longer necessary. But, I vaguely remember, and some one PLEASE correct me; if a Steyr M pistol has a SN above 007000, then it left the factory with the redesigned trigger already installed.

Check out Flying V's Pic on the first page. See how the pin in the trigger is in the middle of the trigger? It has been up graded. If it hadn't, then the pin would be lower on the trigger.

Best polymer pistol on market. If you don't like the sights, you can put normal dots on them, and normal night sights. The factory sights are truly great for shooting long distance, like 100 yards.

In the link below go to about the 14th post down by "Zundfolge".

He has posted photo's of both triggers. My M40 had the orig. trigger
which I liked. The upgrade made it even better!

Purchased used in 1986, IIRC. Previous owner had tried to do a trigger job on it, managed to make the hammer follow on every shot. Replaced the hammer and sear with factory parts ($120) and later ordered two mags from GSI @ $40 each. Thought they were way overpriced at the time. Just bought two more recently at $125 per. :banghead: (Time machine, I need a time machine!) Very accurate, very reliable once I cleaned and polished the extractor and the feed ramp. Fits most holsters for a Beretta 92 as long as they aren't too tight. Mag pouches are difficult to find, the mags are a little longer than most. Made my own. Carried it daily for over 10 years until my expanding belt size made a subcompact look a lot more appealing. Still carry in a shoulder holster under a jacket in the colder months. Some holster wear and the crinkle paint is smooth on the backstrap. Wish I had another one.

I also own two other Steyrs.

An STG58 FAL rifle built on a DSA type 1 receiver, very accurate and reliable also. The other one is just a parts kit right now. A Steyr MPi81 SMG kit I picked up a while ago. Waiting on the 94 ban to sunset and a semi conversion to come out so I can build me a neat little semi auto carbine.

Recently purchased a minty GB for $500, looks never fired.

It is a late commercial model with a blued slide and a very nice trigger. Looking for mags, but not worried (yet). The gun is great.
