That's a reason to buy the game right there!

The reasons to buy this game are endless. With a decent computer (1.5GHz + 256M+ current or next gen graphics card) and a broadband connection it is the cheapest and most fun you can have on a saturday night. :)

If you teach your kids proper gun handling, it actually carries over to the games, and the games become "simulators" rather than games. If you discuss tactics and tecniques with them while they play, it opens a whole new way to play. If you think your good, just try playing without taking a hit. :)

Kids should have live fire under their belts before they have game fire. :)

I have had Rainbox Six - Rogue Spear for quite a while and it is way cool. This one looks even better. Maybe I'll invest even though I stink at games.

Raven Shield is pretty good...it gets the gun juggling just right. Night sights on the pistols, blast and recoil modeled properly, slides lock back, magazine changes are done properly. When you change a mag on a locked-back slide, the character drops the slide on a fresh mag with the slide stop. When you do a tactical reload, the old mag goes out and the new one goes in...and the round count is now accurate, i.e. 16 rounds for the Beretta 92.

That game is a major bonanza for gun geeks. FN P90s, several varieties of MP5s, HK G3s and G36s, FALs, M14s, M16s and M4s, HK USPs, and even belt-fed stuff.

Skunk, great agitprop! I swear I'll never roll my eyes at the mention of computer gun games again.

Let's replace those damn UN patches too :D

I think the nicest touch is the +1 when you start the mission or do a "tactical" :barf: reload.

USP starts with 14 unless you go to slide lock and reload, then it's down to 13.

They said something about the guns being configurable, I guess I"ll have to fire up a single mission.

That is by far the most fun FPS I've ever played. I bought it the day it came out. I'm still only on mission 2 because I play them until I can plan then well enough that I loose NOT ONE operative. It's tough, but it's a blast. The graphics are awesome on my GeForce 4 4600. Lately I find myself using the MP5 ni 10mm and the M4. :)

Raven Shield may be good....but it can not compare to the realism of Operation Flashpoint!

Let's replace those damn UN patches too

You can make your own. I have made two so far one for SV for a friend and a STI one for myself.

Operation Flashpoint rocks as well, so does America's Army.

More gun handling goodies.

I been being a good boy and shooting one and loading one with the Benelli, but went empty tonight. The first round is loaded into the chamber, the bolt closes, then the operator feeds into the magtube, unlike games where they're loaded into the tube, then pump the slide, like a dramatic operator!

The shotgun patterns well, about what it should be, it doesn't pattern a foot per yard like most computer game shotguns. Unfortunately there's no select slug. The Compact ACOG is neat though :D Seems like a scope w/ such a short eye relief on the shotgun would give you ouchey-eye though?

Reehaw! :D

I was thinking GTA Vice City but I think the range rules are a little looser.

I've only played the demo but it seemed pretty good and realistic. But my sissy avatar can't reload a shotgun for crap. :D

When I was big into video games, the best stuff available was Contra on the original Nintendo... even playing Golden Eye on the N64 years later took me off guard.

Times (technology, rather) are changing.

Do we finally have an "official" first person shooter (multiplayer) for The High Road members? This would be a watershed event in our on-line history.

Op Flashpoint may have better realism... but the graphics are woefully lacking and you can't lean or peek around a corner. THAT is big drawback. Op Flashpoint needs those two things to handle indoors better. I want a combo of these two games.

Raven Shield Players: It's all about the AK-47 with a suppressor.

Flashpoint has several glaring problems. The engine is a little weak for any indoors stuff, and the graphics suffer some (due to the scope of the game, need a real breakthrough in games to do it any better though). The netcode pretty much sucks, online play is hard to get into as it takes awhile to find a good server and start playing since last I played you couldn't join mid-game, etc. It also has crap like AKs with burst mode all over the place, etc. And what is up with no moving while reloading? That's the lamest thing I've seen... This is the best outdoors, wide open area with mixed vehicles game out though. The game feels "rough" because of the scope of the game. Some more polish, and a better interface and netcode for online games and it would be unstoppable. Fingers crossed for Op:Flash 2 ruling... I did have an incredible amount of fun playing through the single player campaign of the Resistance expansion pack. Now there is a story every gun owner could appreciate. Felt like I was taking part in a thirdworld version of the movie Red Dawn....

Raven Shield is much more a indoors, CQB game with a few opportunities for longer range fun. It is a great, highly polished game with a large stress on weapon accuracy. I do have some complaints with the accuracies and recoil of a few weapons though. The M16 jumps to mind, damn thing is way too hard to keep on target compared to other .223 weapons, and feels more vicious than the 7.62x51 weapons as well, the M4 is too inaccurate IMO, stuff like that... Still a great game, best CQB game out by far IMO. Multiplayer action in this game is second to none IMO.

My biggest complaint with Raven Shield is no "iron sight" aiming though. The "zoom" function is a good go-between, but with the ability to shoulder your weapon and aim down the sights like few other games and Raven Shield would be soooo much better. Here's hoping for a good mod to accomplish this.

Now I just need the perfect WWII game and all will be well, BF1942 is crap, and Medal of Honor needs a slightly better engine and more realism and I didn't care for Day of Defeat (HL engine is just too crappy now).... Where o where is the perfect WWII game...

The M16 and M14 in Raven Shield aren't as accurate as they should be...

But the Beta-C mag for the M14 is fun fun reehaw fun!!

Any of you play Ghost Recon? Very fun signle player game - the interface for squad control is very smooth - I love it.

I think CounterStrike would be a good game for us to play multiplayer. It's very fun, high adrenalin, and somewhat realistic.

Op Flashpoint 2 is in the works. I hope it's good.

Oh no... Someone had to go and dump a CounterStrike comment.

For some reason, I can't stand that game. It's irksome to me. The Mario Brothers running and jumping is annoying beyond belief.

Raven Shield however... I dropped 50 bucks on that the day it came out and I'm pleased I did.
Still waiting for the mods to come out. How thankful we are for the French for giving out the tools to make MAPS but nothing to make Weapons with.

Freaking French!:cuss:

Well, if not Counter Strike, then bring on Day of Defeat!

Sure, it uses the pretty old Half-Life engine, but man o man is it fun!
None of that bunny hopping and half a magazine into someone before they die!
