I looked up the Trijicon model RE04 and it looks almost identical to the Tractlok (sp?) sights like the one that Wilson Combat puts on their 870s.

Are they the same or is one better than the other?

You know, if you'd learn how to shoot with a bead, you wouldn't be asking that question. And probably saving something like $90 you could spend on ammo.:D :D

SG, we don't know his mission - if he wants to shoot slugs at 100y, those ghost rings make things much eaiser.

Skunk, I don't know the answer to your question.

For 100 yard missions (illnesses?), I've got 7.62 medicine :D

I have not tried bead at 100 yards, but at 50 my 18" barrel with bead does very nicely with Federal and Winchester slugs.

Question-

In what situation/mission is it tactically correct to engage bad guys with slugs at 100 yards? With that much space, I think I'd work on evasion. Or have/use my "reach out and touch someone" solutions:cool:

Seriously, I think shotguns with slugs or shot are devastating weapons for close range work. And I wouldn't want catch a slug at 100 yards. But limited accuracy, mag capacity, weight of ammo, etc, I'd be using a rifle at 100 yard range on attacking or fleeing opponents.

Well, if he lived in Indiana, he'd be using a slug gun for deer season. We're not always tactically oriented..... :D

I started hunting with a 1100 + bead sight and made a couple of shots that puzzled me. I could hit a half gallon milk jug at 50 yards on demand, but missed one deer clean at less range. Killed the next one, but had inaccurate shot placement.

I figured out that I was pulling my head off the stock. I (me) need a rear sight other than my eye to effectively use a slug in a SG.

My 7.62 stuff is locked in the safe, 99% of the time. My 12 ga's are cruiser ready, though hidden. The only threat I've actually hadhere were feral dogs. With the kids in the 'hood, I can see engaging at 100y if they were in danger. Farfetched, but possible. People wise, a drive by might indicate engaging at a distance. It's 110 yards to the stop sign on my street and 150 yards before they can get out of sight in the other direction, so it's not out of the question.

I'm going to have some cheap oscuro or double maduro cigars made for me in Mexico. They'll have bands made from black cordura and come in boxes where every cigar is held separately like in boxes of ammo. Black boxes, of course. I'll claim the lit end is not visible to infrared detection and the smoke is low signature. They'll taste like :cuss: , but they'll be tactical. I'm going to name them "TacCig". They're going to cost $250 per box of 20. They'll come in three sizes (but not ring gages; calibers): 12 gauge robustos, 5.56mm cigarillos, and .50BMG panatelas. The cigarillos, though, will come in 250 cigarillo battlepacks for $400. A promotional tactical cigar cutter comes with the first 100 boxes sold. It's a Benchmade cigar cutter that has a special "sentry-silencing" tanto blade that pops out.

Throw out your Macanudos and Partagas. But TacCig. Coming to a tactical gear store near you. Also look for the TacCig tactical humidor. It's a black .50 cal ammo can lined with Spanish cedar. Price is $600 and you get a free sample 5 pack of TacCig 5.56s.

Skunk-
I haven't seen the Trijicon GR sights yet. I had a student last week with the new variant of the Wilson/SGT trak-lock, first time I'd seen the re-designed ones.

Once he got it zero'd it looked like it worked fine. My understanding is that the new variant has more elevation adjustment than the old - which was my complaint with them.

I do not know how the front sight attaches on the Trijicon, but one of the knocks on the SGT front has to do with the idea of it being glued on a shotgun. I haven't seen many glued on blades last for an appreciable amount of time. Mine ended up being pinned & soldered on.

i've got a wilson combat track-lock ghost ring with a tritium front sight on my 1100 remmy tactical, and it works quite well. i can't speak for the trijicon though.

Thank goodness! Somebody actually answered the guy's question about sights rather than lecturing him about what he should/should not be doing.
