Fun in the woods

Went to the boonies with a friend from work today to poke some holes in paper and aluminum cans.
Haven't done that in four years due to circumstances beyond my control. Man, was that fun!

He got to shoot a Garand and an M1 carbine for the first time, and I was able to try out his old Marlin 30-30 lever gun. He got it from his Dad many moons ago.
We also managed to send a few rounds from his Taurus .357 mag down range, too. There isn't a soda can left alive on that mountain.
Sunburned, tired, drove all over creation just to find a place to shoot.
We even left our new shooting spot cleaner than we found it.
Then a pilot in an old Navy N3N WWII trainer did some aerobatics over nearby Foster Lake just as we finished. We had a front row seat.
All in all, a grand Oregon day, sunny and warm in the Central Willamette Valley.

You just described paradise.

Boonie shootin’ is by far the most fun.

Contact me if you ever make it up here (see location) and perhaps I can show you some of my favorite shootin’ holes.

Dean C,

In my younger days (30 years ago) I lived in Issaquah. We had couple of shootin' spots an easy walk from the house.
Now they're all subdivisions. :(

Gosh, I've got to get my mind out of the gutter..... :o ....I was thinking of something entirely different! :p

Yup plinkin' out in the woods is fun; keeps one's skills with impromptu rests up, too. :)

I did the same thing just yesterday while trying out my new CZ P-01 on a friend of mine's farm. We shot everything from an old television set, a few remaining remnants of an old defunct moonshine still (hey, I live in Kentucky lol), a multitude of cans, an old pick up truck, and even a run down old farmhouse that has been designated as his shoothouse. Hopefully the only situation I'll be outside shooting a target on the inside of a house through a window....GREAT FUN !!! :D

Well done!
