As I posted yesterday, ulfler and I had a good old time at his place and I bought his Smith & Wesson 1911, the model I like the most. Well, I had these Carbon Creations on my Dan Wesson, but truthfully, the cocobolo grips that came with the Dan Wesson or superlative and the Smith's walnut grips, though very nice, are a bit orange for me. So, I put the carbon fiber/kevlars on the Smith. Oh, I like these!

The Smith needs to get a sight drift to the right, otherwise, I'm thrilled with my two 1911s. Of course, ul's Colts and Norincos are also sooooo nice. Yeah, I'm already lookin'. There's just sumpum about a 1911. (Please, no 1911 bashin' today...no rainin' on this parade...) ;)

Nice examples of 1911's....Only problem is 1911's tend to multiply! :D

Nice pictures.

What did you use for lighting on the Dan Wesson? Do you have studio lights or was that simply a flash - or is there a filter on your camera. Its a gorgeous picture.

I love stories with happy endings... <snivel> Nice!

Looks good Frandy, but you better get cracking on the SW and ready to take me on with my Nork (or 1991A1) next time you come down. No, you can't use the DW..that would be taking unfair advantage. :D

I think the full size scandium SW1911s would be the perfect carry guns.

Sweet pistol, those CC grips look great.

Quick question, how is the barrel crown on your gun?

Man, I just love the look of 1911's without front serrations. That blued is sweet.

I love my XD, but I have to admit, nothing looks like a 1911

Black Majic, from the small bit I know, the crown of the barrel looks fine. If the crown concerns you because it's shooting left, can you provide anything specific I should look for before I get my gunsmith to drift the sight? (We tried, too tough to move.) Of course, my smith will look it over too...

Great.

What kind of bulb are you using? What kind of filter?

I've got a small studio set up in my basement (well, its taken down now but I am in the process of rebuilding it) and I'd love to shoot more firearms down there.

Standard daylight-balanced flash that come with the Photogenic PoweLights. I've had these for years and am waiting for the day they no longer give high enough Kelvin. No filters. I just adjust levels a bit in Photoshop Elements.

What kind of groups do you get out of your DW? (And at what range...) - I haven't had a chance to shoot mine since it got fixed.

Rich,

I shoot at an indoor range and not benched, just offhand. And, I'm not all that great a shot. I will tell you that at ulflyer's place, I had my hands on a sturdy "shelf" in front of me and at 10 yards shot a couple of groupings that were an inch or so. This pistol completely outshoots me. In the hands of a real shooter, it would be quite good!

Of each.
