Theyre talking about the proposed lift of the DC ban. It relegalizes the usual firearms but not MGs or silencers etc.

Oh, it's a BAN?!

I thought it was just a tax :)

It is a ban in some states and in the District of Colombia. The point being made is that they are proposing "easing" the ban on all firearms in D.C., but it would not lift the ban on NFA items.

As if criminals would obey the law in any of those states. I can't stand the idiocy of our legislators - but then again, sometimes I think that they are far smarter than we give them credit for. After all, if you're out to keep the populace without access to the most effective weapons, who cares about a few criminals?

DC local law slaps the machine gun label on ANY firearm that could be fired more than 12 consecutive times without reloading. :what:

A Sig P226 "machine gun" . . .. :barf:

Yes, it appears that many states have been at work to morph the term "machine gun" into a vague, but scary term like "assault weapon."

DC considers any shotgun with a barrel less than 20 inches in length a "sawed-off shotgun".
