Would like to hear some discussions pro and con on the Bushnell holosight.

I am having one installed on a S&W model 41 and cannot find anyone that suppies a holster that would fit this combination so I am having second thought.

I have never fired a pistol with a holosight installed but looking at them at the gun shop made me think I would like to have onel.

If anyone has used a holosight on their handgun I would like to hear what you think.

Welcome to THR! :)

I was lucky enough to get one at a slightly reduced price last year and use it on my BFR - I like it a lot and if it were not for cost aspects I'd replace some ordinary red dots on other guns with the same.

I do find the button useage a tad irritating, particularly pressing of both rear buttons to switch off. Minor point tho.

I am glad to hear a good report on the Bushnell holosight. I purchased a model 51-0021. There are several different models but I settled on this model for several reasons.

I agree the cost is inflated but I purchased mine on the internet through
www.opticsplanet.com for $185.00 including shipping and tax. which seemed very reasonable to me since the MSRP is $300+.

That is a great picture of your Magnum Research BFR. It looks to pretty to shoot.

Forgot to check mine re model. This one is 51-0022 - which has the 1MOA dot. Your 51-0021 has what they call std reticle - outer circle deal and center dot.

Doubt I'd mind either really tho yours may make dot aquisition a tad easier. When folks try mine I often have to say ''drop the muzzle'' so they drop dot into view! Not a problem.

I've got the Bushnell HOLO-sight (part #51-0021) set up on my Colt AR15,
but I've never used one on a handgun~? :uhoh: :D

BTW, I thought I did pretty darn well at $195 NIB, but at $185 including
S&H you robbed the poor guy! :neener:

I've never used one on a handgun~? Haha - Dan - they work great - if mine can take the ''punishment'' on the BFR with some fairly ''stout'' (polite word for quite hot) - it'll handle about anything!!

IIRC - and why I snapped mine up - it was $169. :) :)

Beautiful gun - taken any game with it?

No - no game as yet.

In fact primary choice of handgun from hunting POV would be my SRH in .454, tho no doubt the BFR would do fine. Current load in that makes about 1550 ft lbs so wouldn't be too useless! :)

Anyone got one of the new compact size holosights? They could turn a gun which would otherwise be incapable of co-witnessing irons with the red dot into one that allows co-witnessing, being a bit lower, with certain configurations - less battery life though.

I'm planning on picking up the XLP once I have a mount for my 22/45
