Jeweled bolt

Here is my first attempt at jeweling and it came out better than the picture shows. I also found that the bolt now moves easier in my little .22 Hornet so I guess that jeweling has more than a cosmetic use.
:cuss: :cuss: :cuss: I thought I had the picture thing figured out. Back after dinner to finish. :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

Looks good! What kind of jig did you use to hold the bolt?

Took the bolt apart and clamped it in a B-square jig that I got for Xmas a few years ago and never did much with. Clamped a fence to my drill press and puts some marks on it so I could advance it 1/8" at a time. Used a small circular brush in the drill press with emery paste.
Also did the bolt on my CZ-452 .22 Seems like CZ is one of the few who give instructions on how to disassemble the bolt totally.

"...jeweling has more than a cosmetic use..." Yep. It's main purpose is to enhance oil retention on the bolt.

What we refer to as jeweling used to be called "engine turning" according to an old machinist I know. Why? I haven't the faintest idea.
