Carbon Fiber! :D
For shooting, I like the hogue fingerless rubber grips. Sticky, great grip and oh so comfortable. For 1911's, wood work well.
I really like hogues mongrip. They are on all my CZs. I had a handball on my kel tec but decide I like it better in the pocket w/o it. My taurus .357 has the taurus grips which are very similar to the hogue grips. My dad's 686 has the hogue grips to.....I guess I like hogues.
However I love to look at custom wooden grips on CZs but I sweat alot so I don't know if it would work out.

For pretty:
Cocobolo or Buffalo Horn: ala carved fingergroove cocobolos on my Ruger Mk2, Eagle Buffalo Horn on my Vaquero, vintage Buffalo Horn on my 1917 Colt.
for practical use:
Hogue Monogrips (have them on Colt 1991A1, FEG Hi-Power, Colt Magnum Carry)
However I like the look of those Pachmeyer wood and rubber grips... haven't tried them yet.

I like smooth. Ivory polymer, wood, wood with ivory inserts, as long as it's smooth. For the heavy kickers, I prefer rubber like the Pachmayr gripper on my Redhawk. I changed the checkered wood on my Kimber Ultra CDP for smooth wood with finger grooves. The larger grip makes up for the flat mainspring housing.
Give me smooth pretty wood, or on the blued guns, smooth ivory polymer. :D

I used to prefer wood grips only. But lately I've developed an affinity for the Simonich G-10 Gunner Grips. I also like the aluminum grips from Aluma-Grip.
That makes 3 for gunner grips :D Those things are awesome! Coyote Brown, please.

beauty is in the eye of the beholding shooter. i do like nice looking grips, but, some of my unatractive guns appear gorgeouse to me for their performance. they wear what grips work on them. i prefer the lookers, it just hasn't worked out that way. the blue gets spotty and the stainless gets stained. if they are not accurate, for their purpose, and absolutely reliable, i have no respect for them and they dont hang around too long. ugly i can take, but, not ratty, jamming shooting. life is too short for that bull. And there's always the exotic woods that Omega uses on his fine grips.
This one is Australian Ivory Needlewood.

I can't say that I actually have a favorite, but as it happens my two favorite grips on my own personal guns happen to be rubber. My P90 is wearing Hogue wrap-arounds that are a vast improvement over the Zytel panels that it came with, and my Taurus 24/7 has the Taurus "Ribber" grip. I know alot of cats don't seem to like that Ribber grip that well, but I sure do.
