A lot of the rhetoric is the same. For example, there was the recent allegation from a U.S. Congressman that Israel was somehow pushing this war. Contrast that with the Nazs calling Franklin Delano Roosevelt "Franklin D. Rosenfeld". Or the assertion that the Zionists control the media (which the American nazis of Lincoln Rockwell said for years and who started calling the New York Times the "Jew York Times.") A lot of this gets couched in anti-Israel vitriol. But the allegations are the same: The Jews-Israelis-Zionists control the U.S. government, they control the media, they control the banking institutions, they use the blood of Muslims to make matzoh (that medieval saw made a comeback in the Arabic press recently), they're a shadowy cabal that secretly runs the world, etc., etc. And the far right is not exempt, either. Who could forget ZOG---the Zionist Occupatonal Government? Pat Buchanan is leveling these accusations, too. In the world overall, the UN tried to have "Zionism" labeled as racism at one point. The French, not happy with merely having voluntarily handed over their Jews to the SS for extermination, were burning synagogues just a couple years back while the government said they were powerless to stop it.

Why are Jews targets? Usually because, throughout history, they've worked hard to better themselves and educate themselves. So, they prosper. And the lazy and the ignorant resent them and try to steal what they have. In Israel, people created a contry out of sand and swamps. While they created a country, their neighbors sat and seethed with anger and jealousy. So, out came the old European accusations: the Jews control this and that and keep us down, the Jews do this, the Jews do that. American liberals and leftists buy into this whole "Israel is a monster" lie because they think the Palestinians are "oppressed". Well, if the Palestinians would use a little mortar and elbow grease to put rocks together instead of throwing them, they could build a country too. Instead, it's easier to blame others for their own failures. And other people used to providing excuses for failure and blaming everyone but themselves---the America and European leftists--find fellow travelers in the Palestinians.

The main origin of the "Jews control the money system" BS is that back in the middle ages, Catholics were allowed to borrow money at interest but not lend. Jews were under no such restriction, BUT weren't allowed to own land. So a fair percentage got involved in banking and what we now call "venture capital", which by and large was handled in a perfectly reasonable fashion.

There are still large Jewish banking houses decended from all that, such as the Rothschilds.

Now, if some loon of a local Duke or whatever got in over his head in debt, the easiest "solution" was to start up a riot over the "ungodly Jews" and run 'em out of town. A *large* percentage of Europe's anti-Jewish violence down through the ages has this as it's origin :rolleyes:.

This historic link to Jews and banking is how Hitler sold the basic con. His scapegoating, blaming Jews for the state of the German economy, sounded "plausible".

Us gunowners get the same basic thing: we own guns, criminals dig guns, so we must be all the same, right? :fire:

In the Christian world a lot of anti-Jewish sentiment has been rooted in the belief that "Jews killed Christ."

Those people with a case of *** about this, however, forget that Jesus was a Jew.

Persecution in Europe led to many Jews fleeing to Muslim-held lands such as Moorish Spain. The Moors welcomed the Jews as persecuted "Believers of the Book," or the Old Testament and fellow Children of Abraham (something the Christians in Europe at this time forgot all about. Gotta run the crusades, don't you know.)

The result, in Spain, was an incredible flowering and melding of Jewish and Moorish culture, which still resonates in Spain today.

When the Christians finally won Spain back from the Moors after 700 years?

Current anti-Jewish animosity has a lot less to do about religion (which is a convenient crutch) than it has to do about a war for land and nations.

I have only been a "gun-person" for a little over a year and I am Jewish. I find a lot less anti-semitism among the majority of "gun-folk" than the average non-Jewish population. And, yes, anti-Jewish sentiments are far from gone, even in this country.

I truly appreciate the thoughtful and educated posts I often find here regarding the similarities of bias against Jews and gun-folk,
especially after Michael Moore's embarassing "performance" on the Oscars last night.

Re: debunking the "Jews killed Jesus" myth -- Jesus was not only Jewish, but also a Rabbi -- unfortunately, Mel Gibson is currently producing a film in which Jews are depicted as killing Jesus....Hollywood...big surprise, eh?
