Bored with my 22/45

That's right, the beautiful 5.5" stainless is...dull. None of my friend's kids like to shoot it due to the weight, and frankly my CZ Kadet kit is more accurate.

I just want something more fun. Uh oh...he's gonna say P22 . I know it can have issues, but reading up on rimfirecentral.com there are just a few quirks that need to be addressed so it runs smoothly.

So, just for fun lightweight plinking, would it be a sin to trade in the Ruger for a P22? Plus I can get a suppressor later for stealth backyard target practice...

If you've already got a Kadet, you may want to look at a K-22, maybe a M18. I've got a M17 and I love it.

Also, no way the gun snobs can complain about trading the MKII for a classic S&W .22.

It wouldn't be a sin, but foolish I think with all the problems people been having with them.
Why care what somebody's kids think. Tell the kid's mommy and daddy to buy the toys they like, it's not your responsibility to keep them happy. If my buddy's kids said my guns were too heavy for them then guess who wouldn't be shooting? Now guess who would give a s***?
BTW didn't you trade in a MkIII for this MkII? Now you want to trade the MkII for a P22. That is wasting a lot of money in a short period of time. Try slowing down on your purchases and making sure of what you want first. You will probably find out to late that the Ruger you have now is a much better pistol than the P22 you want to get.

Sell the 22/45 and get yourself a Marvel upper conversion for your 1911's.

Then have a "shootout" or "range report" between the Cadet and the Marvel and tell us which shoots straighter.

Quite simply however, .22s are pretty boring to shoot for most people. They fun and cheap to plink with, but for regular shooting, most of my friends dont like to shoot my .22s.

I did. You have a good memory.

I'm actually thinking of myself here too, not just kids. I'd love to have a small, combat-looking .22 to blast away with. The Ruger has been flawless in every way, it's just not getting used, especially since I got the Kadet kit for the CZ.

Maybe it is a mistake to sell it. I should probably just find a used P22 somewhere and see if I can get it to shoot decently. Hmm.

chris in va,

Yes it is a sin. As penance you must package up your Ruger and send it to me. Along with any and all .22 ammunition within your home.

www.solow.com, plus an Ultradot. Call it the "Save the 22/45" program. :)

yup. I started to get a little bored with my 22/45. Got a VQ trigger for it. shot for a few months, bored again. Got a hiviz sight. Its a great package now.

Next on the list is an optical sight of some sort.

No collection is complete without a Ruger MK series auto

Nobody has problems with the new p22's. From what I've read on rimfirecentral.com, the new ones are hassle-free. You can add a laser sight and blast away (not that I'm planning on doing that ;) ).
Another possibility is to tinker with your 22/45- get a red-dot sight, a trigger job, and the best modification ever:
A pac-lite upper receiver/barrel. Match-grade accuracy, and light as a feather. You can probably sell your current 22/45 upper reciver for half the price of the pac-lite.
Something to think about.
