How do you clean your bore brushes and other brushes and such? I never really thought about it or did it, but after reading some, it seems as though it would help, and sure can't make anything worse.

CRC Brakleen from NAPA, $2.19 per can.

Run out to back deck, spray off toothbrushes. utility brushes...etc. Let them air outside.

I just wash them with dish detergent in the bathroom sink and rinse well.Make sure you use enough detergent.Ajax works well.

I normally just buy new bore brushes. As for the nylon brushes, I clean them off w/ simple green, rinse really well & air dry.

I use Ballistol for cleaning and lubricating, so I can just rinse my nylon and brass brushes with warm water. Toothbrushes are trow-away, I collected so many of them that together with the steady resupply they will last a few years.

I don't really have a usable deck area for Carb or Brake cleaner, hmm... the dish detergent in the bathroom will probably be easiest to do for me.

Most benchrest shooters will tell you to clean those bronze bore brushes with lighter fluid. The naptha removes all that gunky stuff very easily.

Nylon brushes can be cleaned with soapy water.

Before all this new fangled spray stuff all I ever used was hot soapy water, alcohol and Zippo Lighter fluid. (cleaning brushes)

Honest, still do, most of the time.

Just when someone brings you a case of Brakleen for doing a favor...one might get lazy.

Still like the Zippo for a lot of cleaning chores on firearms. Removes gunk, grease... leaves no residue.
