THis is not a joke in the Arizona Republic today in the classified section their was an ad for get this, a Hi Point 9mm for $350 and a Jennings 9mm for #325. This guy is going to be trying to sell those for a long time. I thought that it was pretty funny though.

If it was in a local paper he will probably sell it to a soccer mommy who is petrified about the Iraqi airborne troops landing all around her. The people who know something about guns will chuckle and move on.
Now if he posted it in our classifieds here with those prices I would enjoy seeing the reactions. :D

Happens here all the time. My favorite is the 870 Express for $300 while chain stores are selling them for $240.
Local gunstore has a CZ-50 (IIRC) for $189. In shotgun news, someone's selling them for $89.
There's one born every day.

$350 should get you both guns, a case of ammo & dinner and a movie (w/ popcorn!)

Well at least youd have a full factory warranty with the Hi-Point! I went to a show last week where a dealer had a used Jennings nine for $275.00!!!:what:
I almost collapsed laughing!

I see sales all the time for Jennings J-22's at $189.. I wouldn't pay $25 for a new one...
In fact, if anybody wants one.. I've got a J-22 in excellent condition.. (Wife bought this before I met her).. if you don't mind hand feeding it one round at a time.. it's not so bad.. Just don't expect it to feed more than 2 or 3 without jamming (even using stingers)...

The same guntraders run ads like that all the time around here. And eventually they get some poor sucker who pays buys them. The sellers are the same ones that have a gun in 30% condition, but quote you the bluebook 100% price. "What do you mean $475 is too high, it books for $500!"

Hey... more power to 'em.
I have a Jennings 380 that I've put probably 10 hours of 'smithing into. I'd gladly sell it for $725. $325 for the base gun + 10 hours @ $40/hour. :D

I have a friend that does that (in the same Arizona Republic, even), and he seems to find ALL the suckers. He sold a Bulgarian Mak and a PA-63 for $350 and $400, respectively, to the same guy on successive weeks!!! He used to sell Chinese SKSs for $400+ in no time flat before Y2K. It disgusted me, but he's still my friend...:o

You guys are missing the point!!
This guy isn't finding "suckers", he's more likely finding individuals who are willing to pay EXTRA for a "discreet" transaction!

I see your point about "discreet transaction"....but still call BS on this one....
We have great deals in UT all of the time...private sale. Its still got the discreet thing going for it...but at least they arent raping and ripping people off in the process.
I sell privately in the state......almost all of the time through my local paper......works very nicely.
Shoot well

If it was a compensated 9 Hi-Point he might be able to fool people. When im shooting mine, shooters who dont know much about guns always think my comp 9 must be a very expensive pistol.

I see these adds all the time around my area. A guy will buy at discount and later try to sale it used for retail price. There may be a sucker born every minute but not every mili-second!:D

That reminds me the gun auction I went to yesterday. A FEG PA-63 went for $225. A Hi Point .380 went for over $300. A Marlin .22 that Walmart sells for <$200 went for over $300.
Some folks are going to be a bit peeved with themselves when they get home and do a little research on their new purchases.
