TarpleyG August 11, 2005, 10:12 AM I don't think it would be any worse than Kydek or unlined leather but if you are so concerned about the finish on your gun, perhaps it should stay in the safe. Greg Eskimo Jim August 11, 2005, 10:53 AM I have used a stainless steel revolver with a Fobus or Kydex holster. No problems with it although I'm not extremely concerned over minor scratches. The revolver doesn't look abused in other words. -Jim ruger270man August 11, 2005, 11:07 AM tarpley.. I'm going with a Kydex blade-tech actually.. and no I'm not really concerned about the finish, its only a makarov, but I've heard stories of bad flashing in the mold really putting big scratches in some peoples guns. Holster wear is a part of life, and I dont want to make it worse. Bravo11 August 11, 2005, 05:29 PM My Keltec P11 stays in a Fobus paddle holster 90% of the time. The P11 is polymer frame, stainless slide so it doesn't hurt the finish. Besides, it's a carry gun so I expect it to be able to take everyday wear. By the way, the other 10% of the time the P11 is either carried loose in the pocket or in a tuckable IWB High Noon Hidden Impact holster. axmurderer August 11, 2005, 05:49 PM I haven't noticed any problems with mine... Seven High August 11, 2005, 07:57 PM I currently own six fobus paddle holsters. I have been very satified with them. I believe that they are smoother on the inside than many leather holsters thereby causing less damage to a weapons finish. Standing Wolf August 11, 2005, 08:45 PM Well, nuts! I looked at one earlier this week. The adjustability of the paddle made quite a good impression on me, as did the low price. I assumed it would scratch my pre-agreement Smith & Wesson model 60. Now I'm going to have to do some reconsidering—as if I really needed an excuse to visit my favorite local gun shop. garyk/nm August 12, 2005, 08:04 AM I've used one for 3 years now for my XD, and no problems. Just keep the inside wiped clean, they tend to attract dust. SW, if you are looking at a Roto-paddle, do yourself a favor and try it on at the store and wear it for a little while. I bought one for the adjustable cant, but found that, for me, the extra depth of the "Roto" part was not acceptable. Kept hitting it with every arm movement. YMMV. TimboKhan August 12, 2005, 04:15 PM I just bought a used Taurus PT-99 that came with a fobus holster, and it appears to me that it has worn the finish down some, particularly near the muzzle. The upshot is that I can't say that I have ever liked a holster as much. Good pants retention and its fast. For serious carry, it would be a good option, and if your worried about wear, you could probably put moleskin or something in the areas that are most likely to rub without hurting the functionality of the holster. mainmech48 August 12, 2005, 04:35 PM I've been using a Roto paddle as a range/training class holster and winter carry rig with my ss Springfield Champion for about five years. No unusual wear to the gun that I can see. WayneConrad August 12, 2005, 05:14 PM I carry my P99 daily in a Fobus paddle holster. There's a little wear on the slide from holstering and unholstering, but only a little. I got a spot of rust on the slide once when I didn't notice that condensation from my drink was dripping onto my gun and running down into the holster. Came off with a few swipes of fine steel wool. And this isn't the holster's fault, but the right side of the rear sight is banged up from those times when I forget I've got this thing attached to my hip and try to make it go through a door frame rather than through the actual opening. Honest holster wear is something to be proud of. It just means that your sidearm has been well loved. Remember the story of the Velveteen Rabbit? Jack19 August 12, 2005, 07:51 PM I've carried a couple of high end kydex holsters and liked them a lot. Specifically, G-Code and BladeTech. Now I carry a Fobus paddle. The new version is excellent, sticky inside the paddle and about 30-40$ LESS than the high end holsters. For my money, it works just as well. I've had no finish problems with the Fobus. And, I think, the later versions hold the weapon much more securely than their early models. 04SilverSCFX4 August 12, 2005, 08:08 PM I used to have a Fobus belt-slide that I used to cc my Glock 31. I didn't have any problems with it other than when I compared it to a friends SERPA CQC. I just prefer the locking system and quality of the SERPA over the Fobus. I would try both before you buy. Hoploholic August 12, 2005, 11:16 PM Every holster will wear the finish on a firearm. If you carry, your finish will wear. Just one of those things you have to live with. Shootcraps August 12, 2005, 11:54 PM I think Hoploholic is right. I love the Fobus paddle. Extremely comfortable. 1911 guy August 13, 2005, 03:03 AM I use Fobus and Galco. I've carried more with the leather, but quite a bit with the Fobus and I can't see any difference in the two. But, like Hoploholic said, carrying a handgun will wear the finish over time. Too Many Choices!? August 13, 2005, 03:45 AM +1 on keeping the inside wiped down. It will go a looooong way towards saving your finish. fallingblock August 13, 2005, 04:47 AM Some mild scuffing of the stainless was all the downside I noticed. Good holsters for the price. :) Boarhunter August 13, 2005, 11:30 AM I have carried several Glocks in Fobus paddle holsters for a good while and am very pleased with the product combo. Boarhunter 355sigfan August 14, 2005, 12:32 AM When I was in the narc unit a lot of guys started using them and uncle mikes. I saw both types break after people used them for as little as 6 months. Stick with Blade Tech or other simular priced items for Kydex. Pat Bart Noir August 14, 2005, 08:01 PM I haven't any personal experiance with Fobus, but I did see one prominantly displayed in the office at Blade Tech. It was half-melted and the story was this happened just sitting in the sun in a car....... I'll let you decide how much you want to believe. Bart Noir shooting time August 15, 2005, 01:31 PM I have one for a 1911,sig 226,beretta 92,and S&W 60 all work real good with no problems or excessive wear Zach S August 15, 2005, 08:02 PM I havent noticed any unusual finish wear on mine. Most of my pistols are stainless 1911s, but my glock sees mre time in a fobus holster than all my 1911s combined. TooTaxed August 16, 2005, 06:29 PM My Makarov has been in a Fobus Roto-Paddle for three years without any noticable finish wear. I do keep it well oiled... Have also gotten one for my 1911A1, and would like to find one for my CZ-75B. :D Stebalo August 17, 2005, 07:33 AM I don't have a Fobus but am keen on them. But I am wondering about them after seeing this video. Is this a Fobus? http://www.berettaforum.net/downloads/GUNGRAB.MPE Shootcraps August 17, 2005, 09:44 AM IMHO, that film is worthless. If you're carrying concealed and the BG gets his hand on your gun, you're in way deep doo-doo and the type of holster ain't gonna make much difference.
